Though primarily known for their precision milled putters, Bettinardi has built wedges since 2014. Don’t forget they also made a couple of iron sets last year as well.
Today, Bettinardi unveiled the sixth incarnation of their forged wedges. The Bettinardi HLX 6.0 wedge represents Bettinardi’s latest batch of design changes.
According to Bettinardi President Sam Bettinardi, this is their best wedge to date.
Let’s take a look at the new Bettinardi HLX 6.0 wedge and see why you should consider adding one, or even two, to your bag.

Bettinardi’s wedge grinds
C grind
The C-Grind sole features a classic design ideal for golfers who favor straightforward, square-faced shots. It helps players achieve a clean strike by reducing bounce on tighter lies, allowing for better control and precision throughout contact.
SWING TYPE: Shallow/sweeper, neutral, full swing
RJ grind
The RJ Grind offers a versatile, high-bounce sole designed for golfers who want to excel with a variety of shots around the green. Its enhanced heel, toe, and trailing edge relief make it the most adaptable grind in the lineup, providing exceptional playability for a wide range of conditions and shot types.
SWING TYPE: Shallow/sweeper, neutral, steep/digger
What’s new with the Bettinardi HLX 6.0?
First, the center of gravity was elevated to lower ball flight. No, I didn’t get that backwards. Bettinardi wants the HLX 6.0 to launch the ball a bit lower.
A lower-launching shot that bites when it hits the green seems like a good way for someone (me) to improve their short game.
Bettinardi also changed the leading-edge shape of their RJ wedges to improve turf interaction and shot consistency.
Would you play a Bettinardi wedge?
There are a couple of other things to take into consideration when making your decision.
First, Bettinardi has priced their HLX 6.0 wedges at $199, a $21 reduction compared to the price of the HLX 5.0. While not cheap, that price makes Bettinardi wedges competitively priced with wedges from other companies.
(By the way, the Bettinardi 5.0 wedges are currently on sale for $149.99 at Bettinardi.com.)
If you want really fancy wedges, keep an eye on The Hive for limited-edition releases. They released a bunch of custom 5.0 HLX wedge sets in 2024 and I expect to see the same for the HLX 6.0 in 2025.
The HLX 6.0 will be available Feb. 20 at authorized retailers and at Bettinardi.com
