Amazon Finds: Revasri NK-1000 Rangefinder

To say the world of golfing technology is convoluted and filled with options would be a significant understatement. The options are nearly limitless and most of them are pricey. Rangefinders are a popular option for many golfers. Features, prices and quality vary widely. In this edition of Amazon Finds, we will explore the budget-friendly Revasri NK-1000 Rangefinder.

The Problem:

Rangefinders can make a golfer’s life a lot easier, aiding in improving course knowledge and lowering scores. The catch is that many are at least $100 with premium models exceeding $350. Are there less expensive options that can work just as effectively?

The Solution:

Amazon has a plethora of options when it comes to rangefinders. The Revarsi NK-1000 golf rangefinder aims to deliver the best bang for the buck. At only $47.49, it offers slope compensation, flagpole lock, pulse vibration, rechargeable battery and up to 1,000 yards or meters in range.

Packed with features but can it compete with other more expensive options on the market?

How I Found It:

I purchased another cheaper rangefinder last year as my first-ever rangefinder. I was unsure of how much I would use it and didn’t want to spend a lot on something that might not fit into my routine. It quickly became a crucial part of my game and a huge benefit. Unfortunately, the cheaper rangefinder I had purchased, while actually really good in terms of performance, had the battery die at the end of the season. The price of the replacement battery was nearly a third of the unit’s cost so I decided to try out a new one. The Revasri NK-1000 has a rechargeable battery via USB-C that was a huge selling point for me. Based on its great reviews, the “Buy Now” button was hit and the wait began!

How It Worked (or Didn’t):

I have limited experience with high-end rangefinders and found a lot of comfort in my previous cheaper model. Another caveat is, for better or worse, due to my location (Switzerland), I have gotten used to my distances in meters. I loved how easy it was to switch between yards and meters with the NK-1000. I was able to switch between the two with a click of the mode button, 

The slope slider on the side was also nice. It was easy to click on and off and obvious for tournament play where slope function is not allowed.

Somewhat surprisingly, the flagpole lock feature and vibrate were spot on and able to detect flags quickly without much searching or moving back and forth.

The overall size of the unit is great: not too big or small and has a good comfortable shape.

The case and accessories are of good quality and don’t feel cheap. The unit comes with a cord for charging, a microfiber cloth for cleaning and more. In terms of functionality and the basics, this device receives high praise from me: simple and easy to use, good accessories and nothing too complicated for someone looking to get their first rangefinder.

Room For Improvement:

While these aren’t necessarily true negatives with the Revasri NK-1000, they are all things I noted during my testing of it.

For starters, the feel and build quality. It does feel on the cheaper end. My previous unit (seen in the photo below) has a nice rubber feel to it and a bit of heft. The Revasri is solid plastic that just doesn’t feel as good. It also feels lighter, which shouldn’t make a big difference, but it does.

Accuracy:

I found the accuracy to be OK. The decimal yardage was nice and added to the perception of accuracy. When the slope is turned off, this was within a yard of higher-end units that I compared it to. It was consistently a yard on either side of the Cobalt, Bushnell and Garmin units. That said, when the slope function was turned on, I got a wider gap. This would range between five and eight yards, enough to make me second-guess the distance.

I also didn’t love the viewing port. It was a bit smaller and, again, the firmer plastic around the lens just didn’t appeal to me as much. Not a deal-breaker by any means and something after more use I would surely get used to but, when compared to other devices, it is noticeable.

Final Verdict:

The Revasri NK-1000 has ratings of 4.3 stars out of 5 on Amazon with over 1,000 reviews. It is also Amazon’s Top Choice for rangefinders. A lot of high praise and more than enough “good” to “great” reviews makes it very appealing.

I am very much on the fence. While I love that it is rechargeable and functions well, the accuracy when using slope does fall short of my expectations.

Having seen the direct comparisons to higher-priced rangefinders, I would opt to spend more and get a better overall quality product. However, for those looking for an entry-level device that would be a good starting point, this is a fantastic option.

It is simple and easy to use, has good features and functions and includes quality accessories. Unfortunately, the overall build quality and cheaper feel mean I would not recommend this device highly overall.

For me, the Revarsri NK-1000 deserves 3 out of 5 stars. It’s a good entry-level device for golfers on a budget and not ready to commit larger amounts to a higher-end rangefinder. It will still do the job and provide reasonably accurate numbers but be cautious with the slope readings.
