Arccos Caddie Link – No More Phone in Pocket

It’s been about 1.5 years since we first told you that Arccos Caddie Link was coming. We’ll forgive you if you’ve forgotten about it or simply assumed it was vaporware. The Link wearable wouldn’t be the first bit of promising technology that never went anywhere.

Here we are, 18 months or so later, and Arccos is finally launching its Link device.

If you’re just hearing about Arccos Caddie Link, all you really need to know is that it eliminates the need to either own and wear an Apple Watch or keep your phone in your pocket during your round.

I’ve been firmly “in the pocket is no big deal” camp from the earliest days of Arccos. I didn’t understand the complaints about keeping your phone in your pocket. However, when women chimed in with “at least you have pockets,” I realized why Arccos’s phone problem was such a deal breaker.

What is Arccos Link?

Arccos Caddie Link is a small intermediary device that clips to your belt or waistband. It’s less than 2.5” on its longest end and weighs less than 25 grams so you can also just keep it in your pocket – and comfortably so.

Regardless of where you put it, Arccos Caddie Link works with your Arccos sensors to track your shots in real time. Stats are transferred to your phone during or after your round. The big picture takeaway is that Arccos Caddie with Link finally gives you the flexibility to track your game in whatever way is most comfortable for you.

Just In Time

If Arccos Link works as advertised, it will eliminate the platform’s most basic barrier to entry and not a moment too soon.  Once the clear leader in the shot-tracking space, Arccos faces stiffening competition from Scotland-based Shot Scope which just released V3 of its platform. Even if V1 and V2 watches were massively oversized, plenty of golfers loved that Shot Scope never had a phone requirement.

Launched last week to a bit less fanfare, Fore from Foresight Spots (makers of the GCQuad launch monitor) is a tracking platform looking to take on the more established players. Like Arccos, FORE works with Apple watch. Its point of differentiation is that Foresight says FORE can automatically track your round without the need for any sensors on your club.

Shot Tracking Is Suddenly Relevant Again

All but stagnant two weeks ago, shot-tracking tools are again at the forefront of the golf technology discussion. While some golfers are already loyal to a platform, the release of Link may be reason enough for golfers to take a fresh look at Arccos.
