Best COBRA Drivers

We tested 37 drivers for 2025, four of them COBRAs. If you are in the market for a new COBRA driver, the DS-Adapt Max K was the highest performer, finishing inside the top five overall. We will review all the results of the 2025 Best Driver testing and also examine a lower-priced COBRA driver from last year. Here is everything you need to know about the best COBRA drivers.

Best COBRA driver of 2025: DS-Adapt Max K

The DS-Adapt Max K is the highest-performing COBRA driver in the 2025 test. It ranks fourth overall among all drivers tested. One factor that really helped propel the DS-Adapt Max K to the top is its distance performance. Testers had an average total distance of 250.84 yards.

With that extra distance capability, it can be hard to keep drives accurate. The Max K finished in the lower half of the test for accuracy but it was still a consistent performer with high forgiveness scores.

The DS-Adapt Max K was the best overall driver in our high swing speed test results.

Buy this if:

You want one of the longest drivers in the test without sacrificing forgiveness.

You need a driver that delivers consistent ball speeds across the face.

Don’t buy this if:

You’re willing to give up distance for increased accuracy.

COBRA DS-Adapt LS

The DS-Adapt LS is the low-spin model in the 2025 COBRA lineup. It earned a top-10 finish, again largely in part to its distance capability. It’s about a yard longer than the Max K and had the highest overall ball speed in the entire 2025 test.

Accuracy scores were again in the bottom half of the test and it’s not as forgiving as the Max K model. This is a good option for golfers who generate too much spin off the face. If you want to control spin and maximize ball speed, the LS is a good choice.

Testers liked both the feel and the adjustability features of this LS model.

Buy this if:

You prefer a lower-spin driver that still maintains decent forgiveness.

You want high ball speeds.

Don’t buy this if:

You want the absolute highest level of forgiveness that COBRA offers

You have a hard time launching the golf ball because of low spin rates.

COBRA DS-Adapt X

Here is where we start to see a bit of a switch in performance. The COBRA DS-Adapt X is an accurate driver that lost a few yards off the tee in exchange for accuracy. However, it still has high ball speeds and a few testers found it to be one of the longer models they tried.

The DS-Adapt X finished 16th overall, due to a lack of consistency. Its forgiveness scores were lower and if you struggle with off-center hits, you may have a hard time seeing the distance and accuracy that the Adapt X is capable of.

Buy this if:

You need more accuracy off the tee but don’t want to sacrifice distance capability.

You prefer a hot face and clubhead adjustability.

Don’t buy this if:

You are an inconsistent golfer and need a forgiving club.

You want the longest COBRA driver in the test.

COBRA DS-Adapt Max D

The DS-Adapt Max D sits farther down in the rankings. It finished 34th overall out of 37 drivers. The distance score is really what hurt the Max D. Its total average distance was 244 yards.

With a lower distance score, we would expect accuracy and forgiveness to be a little higher but that wasn’t necessarily the case with the Max D. If you struggle with a slice, it may be worth testing this model for its draw-bias benefit but make sure to get fitted to maximize distance and accuracy.

Buy this if:

You struggle with a slice and want a moderately draw-biased COBRA driver.

You prefer a more controlled launch and aren’t chasing maximum yardage.

Don’t buy this if:

You need top-tier distance or you already hit a draw.

You require a low-spin or highly workable design.

What about older COBRA models?

If you don’t necessarily need the latest COBRA driver on the market, the COBRA Darkspeed LS may be one to consider. It’s a 2024 model and it finished in the top 10 of our best driver testing of 2024.

Which COBRA driver is best for you?

The best way to determine which COBRA driver is best for your game is to go for a fitting. However, if you want a general idea as to which models you should try, here are some helpful tips:

Best overall: Go with the COBRA DS-Adapt Max K. It offers the best mix of distance and forgiveness. Best for lower spin and control: Try the COBRA DS-Adapt LS. A great option for players who generate excess spin but still want solid distance and stability. Best for accuracy-focused players: The COBRA DS-Adapt X delivered one of COBRA’s highest accuracy scores. Best on a budget: Consider the COBRA Darkspeed LS that earned a top-10 finish in 2024.
