Best FootJoy Golf Shoes (2025)

In our 2025 spiked golf shoe testing, we tested four pairs of FootJoy golf shoes: three spiked and one spikeless. The top-performing shoe was the FootJoy HyperFlex, the most stable spiked shoe of 2025. Here’s a more in-depth look at the best FootJoy golf shoes in 2025.

FootJoy HyperFlex

The FootJoy HyperFlex is the most stable spiked shoe in 2025, earning one of the top scores in the stability category (29.4/30). Its PowerPlate outsole offers elite torsional rigidity, ideal for golfers with aggressive swings. If you need a stable base of support, you’ll get it with the HyperFlex.

Even though the shoe is a bit firm, testers appreciated the overall comfort, thanks to the StratoFoam midsole. If you are a player who wants maximum power in your swing but also wants to be comfortable enough to walk the course, the FootJoy HyperFlex is a smart choice.

Buy this if:

You want maximum stability without completely sacrificing comfort.

Don’t buy this if:

You prefer a more flexible, natural-moving shoe.

FootJoy Premier Series

The FootJoy Premiere ranked near the top in traction (9.8/10). It combines classic leather styling with modern performance, thanks to the VersaTrax+ outsole and Pulsar LP cleats. The OrthoLite EcoPlush FitBed and lambskin lining make it one of the more luxurious-feeling shoes in the test but it wasn’t the most comfortable. If you want a traditional look from a premium shoe, you’ll find it here.

Buy this if:

You want a traditional, premium leather shoe that performs in all conditions.

Don’t buy this if:

You prefer a more athletic or lightweight feel in your golf shoes.

FootJoy Traditions

The FootJoy Traditions offers lightweight comfort in a classically styled shoe. This one may look a little like the Premiere but its price is much lower and it has better comfort ratings. Traction and stability were average for the Traditions shoe. It may lack some tech-forward elements of other top performers but its foam midsole and molded EVA FitBed give it an easygoing and comfortable feel.

Buy this if:

You want a lightweight, classically styled golf shoe at a more affordable price.

Don’t buy this if:

You need maximum stability and tech-forward performance.

FootJoy Quantum

The FootJoy Quantum was FJ’s lone spikeless entry and it didn’t perform all that well. In fact, if you are a loyal FootJoy fan, your money is better spent on a spiked pair of golf shoes. The Quantum was designed to be a comfortable shoe, and while the SofFOAM midsole did help with comfort, it wasn’t the most comfortable spikeless shoe we tested.

The real problem is stability. The Quantum is the least stable of all the spikeless shoes we tested. If you need that structure in the shoe or an aggressive grip, you won’t find it here.

Buy this if:

You prioritize soft cushioning and comfort in a spikeless model.

Don’t buy this if:

You need top-tier traction or stability in your spikeless golf shoe.

One other option . . .

The FootJoy Tour Alpha was a top choice in 2024. It was the most stable shoe of 2024. While the initial price tag was $199, you can now find it for $149 depending on the size and width you are looking for. If you are on a budget but still want top-tier performance from a spiked shoe, it may be worth a shot.

FootJoy versus the competition

How Footjoy shoes compared in 2025

While FootJoy didn’t top the leaderboard aside from the stability in the HyperFlex, they were consistently strong in some key performance areas. However, when it came to overall comfort we noticed other brands jump ahead of FootJoy.

Stability and structure are standouts

Models like the HyperFlex and Premiere delivered elite levels of stability (29.4 and 29.1 out of 30, respectively). FootJoy consistently ranks among the top regarding torsional rigidity and secure footing. If you have higher swing speeds or play courses with uneven terrain, this is something to keep in mind.

All-weather performance holds up

The FootJoy waterproof warranty is always strong. While not every model scored at the very top in elements protection, FootJoy remains a reliable pick for wet conditions.

Comfort depends on the model

Comfort scores varied across the lineup. The HyperFlex was in the top half of the spiked test but the Premiere was a little firm and didn’t rank quite as high from a comfort standpoint.

Price range and fit

FootJoy shoes span a broad price range with the Traditions offering a more budget-friendly option and the HyperFlex sitting at the premium end. Several FootJoy models (especially HyperFlex and Premiere) feature a classic or medium width which may not suit golfers who need a wider fit.

Which Footjoy golf shoes should you buy?

Still on the fence about which of these golf shoe models is best for you? Putting it all together, here’s how to choose the right FootJoy shoe based on your priorities.

If you want maximum stability and modern comfort: Go with the HyperFlex. If you like a classic look but still want performance: The Premiere offers traditional styling with serious grip. If you’re on a budget: Traditions gives you strong all-around performance without the premium price. The 2024 FootJoy Tour Alpha is also a good choice here. If you want a spikeless option: The FootJoy Quantum is a comfortable choice but it won’t perform quite like other FootJoys in the test.
