Shadow Creek
Designer: Tom Fazio Yardage: Approximately 7,560 yards Cost: Up to $1250Shadow Creek started out as the private golf club of Steve Wynn, the infamous real estate magnate. It’s technically a public course but access is limited to MGM Resorts guests. Even as a guest, you’ll pay about $1,250 a round. Shadow Creek is known for pristine conditioning, waterfalls and lakes, all in the middle of the desert. If you are a high roller and want a premium Vegas experience, you’ll have to work your way onto this one.
Bali Hai Golf Club
Designer: Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley Yardage: 7,002 yards Cost: Approximately $169 to $299Bali Hai is a tropical-themed public golf course right on the Las Vegas Strip. The tropical plants, palm trees and acres of water features help you feel like you combined your Vegas vacation with a quick trip to the South Pacific. Bali Hai always works its way to the top of the rankings for best courses in Vegas because of its visual appeal and impressive course conditions.
Wynn Golf Club
Designer: Tom Fazio Yardage: 6,722 yards Cost: Approximately $550The Wynn Golf Club (yes, the same Wynn) is located right behind the Wynn Las Vegas resort (ditto). This Tom Fazio design features waterfalls, streams and impressive aesthetics. If you want a high-end round in the heart of Vegas, add this one to the list. Tip: Reserve your tee time at least 30 days in advance.
Rio Secco Golf Club
Designer: Rees Jones Yardage: 7,313 yards Cost: About $250 to $500Rio Secco is a Rees Jones course known for its elevation changes, deep bunkers, large greens and undulating fairways. If your game needs a tune-up, stop in at the Butch Harmon School of Golf located at Rio Secco. If you like a good test of golf, beautiful views and dramatic elevation changes, try Rio Secco.
Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort
Designer: Pete Dye Yardage: Varies across three courses (Sun Mountain, Snow Mountain, The Wolf Course) Cost: Varies, generally around $199 to $350If you like Pete Dye designs, head to the Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort. This is the only facility with three Pete Dye courses.
The Snow Mountain Course is the best-known as it was the original layout at the Paiute resort. It has Dye’s trademark railroad-tie bunkers along with white sand and a little water on the finishing holes.
The Sun Mountain Course is a little easier but a beautiful course for first-time visitors to Vegas.
The Wolf Course is the most difficult. It has an island green on the 15th hole. Chances are you’ve seen some pictures of this one if you have done your research on Vegas golf.
Angel Park Golf Club
Designer: Arnold Palmer Yardage: Varies for two 18-hole courses and a 12-hole, par-3 course Cost: Approximately $50 to $125Angel Park Golf Club offers a golf experience for every player. The facility is known for its views of Red Rock Canyon. However, many golfers will tell you it’s the lighted par-3 course that really helps this one stand out. The Mountain Course and the Palm Course are 18-hole designs from Arnold Palmer. The par-3 course features replicas of some of the most well-known par-3 holes from around the world.
Notable Private Clubs In The Las Vegas Area
You will have to know a member or get an invitation to get on some of these private golf clubs in the Vegas area. However, if you get the chance, here are a few to look out for.
TPC Summerlin
TPC Summerlin is the host of the PGA Tour Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. It’s a Bobby Weed and Fuzzy Zoeller design that stretches 7,243 yards. It’s known to be one of the nicest private clubs in Nevada and a great test of golf.
Spanish Trail Country Club
Spanish Trail Country Club is a Robert Trent Jones Jr. design with 27 holes. The club creates three different 18-hole layouts from these 27 holes so members always feel like they are playing a variety of courses.
Reflection Bay Golf Club
Reflection is in the Lake Las Vegas community with incredible waterfront views. This one is a Jack Nicklaus design and it hosts many local tournaments and events.
Las Vegas Country Club
Las Vegas Country Club is one of Vegas’s oldest and most prestigious clubs. Started in 1967, the club has hosted 19 PGA Tour and LPGA Tour events throughout its history. It has views of the city and can accommodate all skill levels with varying tee boxes.
Red Rock Country Club
Red Rock Country club is near Red Rock Canyon so you’ll get the full desert landscape experience. The course is part of a residential community and membership initiation fees start at around $40,000.
