Bettinardi’s innovative INOVAI line gets a major refresh. The multi-material mallets feature a new modular design platform.26 right-handed and 10 left-handed variations.Available for pre-order Feb. 8 at Bettinardi.com and at Bettinardi USA retailers on Feb. 16. Worldwide release in March.MSRP $400
Those who follow Bettinardi’s two-year release cycles expected an INOVAI release in 2024. With that, it was a bit surprising Bettinardi did not announce any new INOVAI releases when they released the 2024 BB putter models last November. Typically, the BB and the INOVAI arrive together.
Being that the 2024 BB line included only a single mallet model, the lack of any mallets from the typically co-released INOVAI line made Bettinardi’s 2024 release plan very blade-heavy.
As it turned out, there is a new INOVAI mallet line coming from Bettinardi. It just lagged a bit behind the BB release. I’m not sure why it came later but my guess is that it got its own release … because it deserved its own release.
Was it worth the wait?
One answer to this question is to look at how different the new INOVAI line is from the previous INOVAI line that was released back in 2022. Some of the aspects of the INOVAI putters have remained the same such as the multi-material construction and the Roll Control Face.

The hottest putter of 2023 makes its retail debut with an AI upgrade. The Odyssey Ai-One Cruiser models Ai-One faces with counterbalanced weighting.Available for pre-order Feb. 8 at OdysseyGolf.com and in stores March 15.MSRP $349.99
Odyssey made quite a splash last fall when they unveiled their Ai-One and Ai-One Milled putter lines. Both lines featured new AI-designed inserts that demonstrated marked improvements in distance control compared to traditional milled putters.
These putters performed so well that Jon Rahm immediately put the Ai-One Rossie S into his bag. He was ready to save some strokes, eliminate some three-putts and make a whole bunch more prize money. I figured we common folk would be excited to try out the AI technologies as well.
As it turned out, the thing that I heard asked most often after the release was when would Odyssey be releasing a retail Jailbird putter like Rickie Fowler’s and Wyndham Clark’s.
Odyssey incorporating this new Ai-One technology into their putters was a big story in 2023, but the biggest putter story last year was the resurgence of the Odyssey Versa Jailbird. The golfing public said, “AI is cool and all, but can I have that putter from 2013?”
Looks like 2024 is going to be Jailbird season after all. Today marks the official announcement of the release of the Odyssey Ai-One Cruiser Jailbird putter. Now you can finally buy a Jailbird putter at your local store, and that Jailbird will feature Odyssey’s Ai-One insert technology.

The purpose of this piece is to shed some light on the proverbial “little” guys. We pride ourselves on giving love to anyone that makes good stuff. That includes those that aren’t household names (yet). Often, the smaller brands are doing some of the coolest work, too.
Here are 10 brands we saw at the PGA Show that need to be on your radar.

The pros never fear a sand trap and you need the same confidence as they do. You just need a technique that will guarantee that you can get out of a deep sand trap. Too many golfers panic and sway back in their stance as they prepare for a killer swing to get out of any bunker. Too often they top the ball or hit deep into the sand and then prepare for their next shot out of the same trap. Sound like you?
There really are 3 types of sand traps.
1/ Fairway Traps with a long flat bottom and a low lip can be played with any iron, hybrid or fairway wood as long as you have extra loft on your club to clear the lip of the trap. CAUTION: Dig your feet down for stability and then choke down on your club about the same depth. With your shortened length on your club you have to plan on hitting a shorter distance.
2/ Shallow Lipped Traps next to the green can be played with any lofted club (like a 9 iron). Just use a putting grip and stroke to exit the green and with enough power to roll out to the hole. Make sure that you determine the break on the green before you swing as you should be attempting to sink your chip shot. To minimize hitting sand with your ball, move forward to the ball in your stance and plan to hit the ball with the toe of your more upright club.
3/ High Lipped Traps: Setup with the ball centered in your 10-to-20-degree open stance and wider than normal stance. Short Game professional, Parker McLachlin said that your club face should be “dramatically open” so that the leading edge of your sand wedge will enter the sand and bounce as it lifts your ball on a carpet of sand. Your wider stance will lower your club handle and allow you to make a more aggressive swing.

If you’re going to become your best this season, putting in the “Inner Work” will be just as important as putting in the physical work.
Among the tools we have for mental training, one of the best is visualization or “mental imagery in golf” which can be used in a number of ways. Studies show that imagery is helpful for improving the following:
Mastery of Self e.g., being a strong competitor, more confident, in control and mentally toughMotivation e.g., seeing yourself winning a championshipCognitive skills e.g., planning your strategy and routinesMastery of Technical Skills e.g., imagining something you want to change such as keeping your head still while putting or improving your swingImproving Arousal Control e.g., being more calm over a putt to winIn this week’s lesson, I’m going to show you how you can use mental imagery as a daily practice, to help you:
Be Great This Year (Motivational)Overcome Fear (Desensitization)The mind is like a heat seeking missile in the sense that, if you give it a target to aim at, it will find ways to move you towards it. In other words, if you have big, compelling goals, and you remind yourself of them regularly, you’ll increase focus, effort and motivation to take you closer to them each day. We get more of what we allow our minds to focus on!
The process starts with a blank sheet of paper. Write down what would be exciting for you to achieve this year. I mean really exciting.

“Golf’s so crazy, when you have it, you feel like you’re never going to lose it. And when you don’t have it, you feel like you’re never going to get it.” — Brooks Koepka
The dreaded golf rut occurs at all levels of golf, whether you are a professional, an amateur or a beginner. Perhaps, you are in a streak of missing cuts. Or you’re a college golfer struggling to qualify for your team… Or even a recreational player who cannot seem to close a round.
A golf slump may occur at any time, and without the necessary tools it can be extremely difficult for athletes to bounce back from one.
A performance slump is an inevitable aspect of sports (Goldberg,1998). It is defined as a prolonged period of decrease in athletic outcome.
Research has indicated that performance slumps can occur for a multitude of reasons, one being psychological (Steed, Poolton & Alder, 2022) such as lack of confidence, negative self-talk and unrealistic expectations of performance.
