Odyssey Versa Jailbird 380 Putter

Odyssey is releasing a version of their Versa Jailbird mallet.Built to the specs of the model that won at the U.S. OpenLimited quantities available on June 28 with a MSRP of $399.99

That Odyssey Jailbird is So Hot Right Now

Having the hottest putter on the PGA TOUR is the dream of every putter company. Demand for that hot putter skyrockets. Every golfer, from pros to schmoes, wants to see if the newest hottest putter will also be hot in their bag. For the company, a trendy putter means a huge uptick in putter sales.

Unless said “hot putter” was last manufactured in 2014.

If you’ve watched any professional golf recently, you’ve seen the remarkable resurgence of the Odyssey Versa Jailbird putter. Rickie had one built to some arguably atypical specifications and subsequently used it to set a record low opening round at the U.S. Open and reenter the FedEx Cup conversation.

That low round generated interest in the Jailbird but when Wyndham Clark won the U.S. Open with the same model, Jailbird madness really took off. A once bargain-bin putter was now fetching hundreds of dollars on eBay. Some online retailers have Jailbirds listed at more than $1,500! In poor condition!

For Odyssey, the hot putter dream quickly became somewhat nightmarish. They had the lightning but no bottle. Everyone now wants the putter but since it was made so long ago, they likely had barely enough Jailbirds to supply Tour players, let alone the golfing masses.

In golf, it’s often the little things that make the biggest difference. These oft-forgotten items are the real troupers of the golf course. Each is necessary but may not get the same love that a fancy driver or shiny iron set receives.

Let’s set the record straight: Your choice of golf accessories makes a difference. Here are MyGolfSpy’s must-have golf accessories, hand-picked by our expert staff.

Golf Accessories That Make A Difference

You absolutely can’t afford to hit the course without an insulated water bottle. While a water bottle is not the most glamorous golf accessory, it’s perhaps one of the most important. The insulated Sport Canteen from Corkcicle is sure to keep your beverage of choice cold (or hot). Plus, the sleek formfactor fits easily into any golf bag or golf cart.

Swing ID by Golfshot

Swing ID by Golfshot allows you to capture swing data during play. The Golfshot app pairs with an Apple Watch to collect data. You can review the data during or after your round.

Swing ID by Golfshot may already be in your iPhone

Many of you are loyal Golfshot app users. I understand. Golfshot was one of the first golf apps I downloaded on my first iPhone. Many iPhones have come and gone since my first one and a version of Golfshot lived on each and every one.

Naturally, Golfshot is on my current iPhone.

A few years ago, I chronicled some helpful Apple Watch golf apps. Many of you were kind enough to leave a comment letting me know that I had missed the Golfshot watch app. Turns out I’m not omniscient. Who knew?

Now I’ve come to find out that there is another Golfshot app feature that flew under my radar. Golfshot has a new Swing ID feature for the app and Apple Watch. If you are a Golfshot Pro member, this feature is already available in your app settings.

Those of you with the free Golfshot GPS or the upgraded Golfshot Plus membership can see the Swing ID menu in the app but you will need to pay to use it.

Sixth Sense

Thoroughly to enjoy golf one should understand and appreciate something of the theory and strategy of the course. It was not built hit or miss, but constructed from principles constructed as axioms after years of trial, as suited to each particular problem. GEORGE THOMAS
