If you’re still pacing off your yardages, you’re potentially losing out on shooting lower scores.
Rangefinder technology is continuously evolving. Companies like Bushnell Golf and Garmin are jam-packing their rangefinders with visual hole layover, wind direction, hazard yardage line … the list goes on.
However, there’s another company that just might be outdoing those big names when it comes to tech integration.
I present the Shot Scope LX+.
Shot Scope LX+ Product Details
For those who are not familiar with Shot Scope, they’re based in Edinburgh, Scotland. They produce high-performing GPS watches/handhelds, shot tracking and, in recent years, golf rangefinders. After testing the Shot Scope LX+, I can tell you it’s in a league of its own when it comes to technology.
Quick question. What tees do you use?
Strolling down the aisle at PGA Superstore, Dicks or even Walmart – it seems like the options and the promises of better distance are endless.
Here at MyGolfSpy, you know we’re all about the data. That’s why we put some of the top-selling tees on the market head to head to see if there’s really anything better than the free wooden tees laying on the tee box in front…and behind you.

For 2023, Mizuno is launching five—that’s right, FIVE—new JPX models. The JPX 923 Hot Metal lineup which includes the standard JPX 923 Hot Metal, JPX 923 Hot Metal Pro and a new offering—the JPX 923 Hot Metal HL—will launch in October.
The forged side of the lineup, the JPX 923 Forged and JPX 923 Tour, won’t launch until February.
You can read about both of those here.
Launching Hot Metal in the fall gives Mizuno the opportunity to hit peak golf season in the Sun Belt. That’s the ideal audience for Mizuno’s game-improvement clubs and that should prove especially true with the new JPX 932 HL.
Mizuno has announced the JPX 923 Forged and JPX 923 Tour. The JPX 923 is a single-piece forging in the player’s distance category. The JPX 923 is a true Tour-inspired cavity-back.Retail price is $187.50 per iron. Available February 2023.
We covered the Mizuno JPX 923 Hot Metal lineup here. The forged half of the lineup (technically, it’s the other 40 percent)—the JPX 923 Forged and JPX 923 Tour—won’t launch until February.
Bummer. Come on, Mizuno.
It’s not lost on Mizuno that five months is a hell of a long time to keep golfers waiting but, with photos already floating around the interwebs, there isn’t much point in trying to keep the irons a secret—not that you couldn’t have guessed new JPX were coming anyway.
Why wait?

Calling All Copper Collectors
On Monday, Sept. 26, PING is releasing the third in their series of Limited Edition PLD Patent 55 Anser putters. If you are a PING fan or a putter collector, this release is something you need to know about. Even if you are not a PING fan, this limited-edition putter should get your attention. Undoubtedly, PING’s 2023 putter line looks amazing but every one of those models pales when compared to this Anser.
Why, you ask? What makes this limited-edition putter pump my pulse more than other releases? Why will this putter once again sell out in minutes, even with a hefty price of $790?
One reason. It’s made of copper.

Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay made short work of Adam Scott and Hideki Matsuyama in the opening match of the Presidents Cup as the United States took a 4-1 lead in foursomes.
Rasmus Hojgaard equalled the course record with his nine-under-par round of 62 to hold a two shot lead after the opening round of the Open de France on Thursday.
The competition seems to be in high spirits heading into the 2022 Presidents Cup. Here are the best parts of the tournament thus far.
Last week we introduced a new segment: the Top 5 Golf Shoes from StockX.
Much of the reaction was positive—most of it from the new wave of golfers like me who believe looking good on the course is half the battle. It’s not that fashion and function necessarily are mutually exclusive. There are plenty of top-performing golf shoes we’ve tested that look as good as they perform.
But I firmly believe it’s totally fine to buy a pair of golf shoes because of the hype rather than focusing on their performance.
Yes, I said it. You’re allowed to buy golf shoes that on paper won’t help your game. And that’s really what this segment is about.
With that mantra firmly in mind, here are my top five golf shoes from StockX this week:
Scotty Cameron is releasing two new limited-edition MONOBLOK mallet putters. Each GOLO-inspired putter is milled from a single block of 303 stainless steel.Available in shops October 7th, with a MSRP of $650.
Going Back to GOLO
Scotty Cameron has spiced up what is usually a bland time of the golf-release year with the release of the MONOBLOK 6 and 6.5 limited-edition putters.
Limited releases are always interesting but this one seems especially so, both in design and marketing strategy. As expected, these non-retail Cameron putters bring you some non-retail aspects. Limited-edition putters must be different from retail putters. That’s expected. However, what I find fascinating is that the release also focuses on a business-as-usual Scotty Cameron design feature.
It’s a story of the new and the norm. On one hand, the MONOBLOK release brings new GOLO-inspired designs. That’s exciting since the last GOLO retail line was released in 2016. The MONOBLOK 6 and MONOBLOk 6.5 heads will look familiar to those who know GOLO putters but they are new sizes and tweaks on that design.
We all expect this kind of story when it comes to limited-edition putters. New shapes, technologies, colors and headcovers are mandatory. This is what drives collectors to shell out $650 for a new limited-edition putter.
So why are the MONOBLOK putters named, and marketed, based on something that Cameron does with every putter?
OUR JOB IS YOUR GAME
With Most Wanted Testing officially over, our “off season” fills up with lab opportunities. It’s a chance to focus on technologies (and related claims) more closely. Hence, conducting an Edel SMS Irons Test.
In July, Edel launched SMS Irons featuring the Swing Match weighting system. The point of technical differentiation is that each iron offers movable weights with each head. The release of the Edel SMS irons brought with it some bold, eyebrow-raising claims.
We put those claims to the test. Today, we dive into the results and do an Edel iron review.
EDEL SMS IRON TEST
Per usual, data was collected using Foresight GCQuad Launch monitors. To minimize variables, all testers hit Titleist Pro V1 golf balls.
For this test, 25 testers hit shots using 7-irons. Four conditions were tested: SMS neutral (center), SMS heel, SMS toe and the testers’ gamers.
It’s shocking to see ads for GOLF Training Aids that promise an instant fix for multiple swing problems. Of course, those ads are designed to get your attention. It really would be wonderful if all of their promises could instantly or ever come true.
I really admire the golf instructor who is promoting a wrist “clicking” device that will solve problems for “90% of golfers who struggle with mis-hits like fat shots, thin shots and shanks.” That really is an amazing promise. His offer is a solution for your poor “wrist position”. Of course, you need a flat or slightly bowed wrist on your down swing, but you also need the right posture, ball position, weight transfer, shoulder orientation, head position, hip and shoulder rotation and it all has to happen in a specific sequence in order to hit the sweat spot with the correct launch angle.
His offer promises consistently flush contact on ever shot and his promises continue on and on. That’s the dream of every golfer. I’m just using this ad as an example of the wonderful image that advertising creates in order to make a sale. If the ad was 50% true then most of their customers would be scratch golfers in no time. Fat Chance!
GOLFSTR+ Solutions
When I developed GOLFSTR+, professional golfers and trainers quickly pointed out 5 more uses as this training aid can be used for many more solutions than a Straight Leading Arm Trainer. Learning to play golf well is more than “a one trick pony”. There are so many unique requirements for a great game of golf. That’s why each club has its own characteristics to solve every possible combination of problems that you face in every round of golf.
I quickly realized that training with a training aid is only the starting point for great golf. When I launched GOFLSTR+, I realized that a continuous training program was needed to encourage customers to explore new ways to improve their games. To help golfers everywhere, I have created a Swing Tip Blog every week for the last 10 years. Finding useful tips from pros which I share in blogs, help me improve my game and I hope that they do the same for you too.
LIV Golf CEO and commissioner Greg Norman met with federal lawmakers on Capitol Hill on Wednesday to lobby on behalf of the new circuit being financed by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, and his message was met with mixed reviews.
Adam Scott and Hideki Matsuyama will face off against Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele in the opening match of the Presidents Cup, where the U.S. team figures to have a sizable advantage.
The U.S. team features five of the top 10 players in the world, including No. 1 Scottie Scheffler. The International team will try to be Buster Douglas to the American's Mike Tyson.
Which company makes the best putters? Odyssey? Scotty Cameron? PING? TaylorMade?
They all do. Right? It just depends on how you ask the question.
With that, it’s fair to suggest that independent brand Evnroll Putters has claimed a position within the industry that is unlike, and unmatched, by others. Before you hoist the torches and pitchforks, hear me out.
I’m not suggesting that the Mount Rushmore of putters should feature a single face. More so, that the piece of real estate now owned by Evnroll is well protected and possibly provides it with a perpetual competitive advantage.
It’s an audacious stance to be sure. But does it have merit?
