The Callaway Paradym Night Mode driver launch is the clearest signal yet that we’re into Round Two of the special-/limited-edition launch. In the past two weeks, we’ve seen TaylorMade launch black versions of the P7900 and Stealth irons. Today, Callaway is announcing a limited-edition Paradym driver offering it’s calling Night Mode.

Night Mode. At night, it’s dark. The drivers are black and “Night Mode” sounds way cooler than “black.”

For the record, there are two Callaway Paradym Night Mode drivers. There’s the standard Paradym and the low-spinning, better-player-focused Paradym Triple Diamond. As with the other special-/limited-edition offerings, the only difference between these drivers and the originals is cosmetic.

Callaway Paradym Night Mode Drivers

This is the second go-round for a special-/limited-edition Paradym. In late March, just before the annual Eastern Georgia Golf Extravaganza, Callaway released a limited-edition green-and-yellow themed Paradym.

We’re unsure if the Paradym Night Mode drivers are connected to the upcoming U.S. Open or Father’s Day. They could also celebrate National Veggie Burger Day or National Moonshine Day, both of which happen to be today.

Or, since the actual release date is June 14, it could be to celebrate Flag Day. The lack of stars or stripes makes that unlikely. June 14 also happens to be National Cucumber Day, National Bourbon Day and National Pop Goes the Weasel Day but there are still no obvious connections.

 But what we do know is Callaway is launching its limited-edition Paradym and Paradym Triple Diamond drivers in full Night Mode. As mentioned, other than cosmetics, the driver heads themselves haven’t changed. Callaway does say the clubhead profile is “sleeker and darker.” Hey, black is slimming.

The shafts and head covers are also getting the full Night Mode treatment. The Callaway Paradym Night Mode features the HZRDUS Silver (50g, R-flex) and HZRDUS Black (60g, S-flex) in what Callaway calls a custom Night Mode cosmetic.

It’s black.

The Night Mode Triple Diamond features a heavier HZRDUS Black (69g, S and X-flex), also in a custom Night Mode cosmetic.

It, too, is black.

Carbon Copies

As should be clear by now, the difference between the regular Paradym drivers and the limited-edition Paradym Night Mode drivers is purely cosmetic. If you want the tech lowdown, we’ve done deep dives already on both the standard Callaway Paradym driver and the Callaway Paradym Triple Diamond driver. But the Cliff Notes version says Callaway’s new Paradym features a 360 Carbon Chassis that is free of titanium and, therefore, 44 percent lighter. That mega-dose of carbon gives Callaway more of the club designer’s Holy Grail: discretionary weight. 

The standard Callaway Paradym driver features a 15-gram adjustable perimeter weight and is designed for the widest range of golfers. The Callaway Paradym Triple Diamond driver is more compact and is considered the lowest-spinning Paradym in the Callaway lineup. It features swappable sole weights for lower spin and trajectory or higher spin and trajectory, depending on whether you place the heavier weight in the front or the back.

Specs, Price and Availability

The new Callaway Paradym Night Mode driver and its traveling companion, the Callaway Paradym Triple Diamond Night Mode driver, will be available in both left- and right-handed models. You’ll be able to choose either a nine- or 10.5-degree head and the shaft options mentioned above.

The price will be $699 and they’ll be available at retail on June 14. That, perhaps not coincidently, also happens to be National Strawberry Shortcake Day.
