COBRA Irons: Model By Model
While often recognized for their more outgoing color palette, COBRA is known for developing quality irons for golfers of all abilities. In our COBRA Irons Model By Model series, we explain each iron in the current COBRA lineup. We will also highlight key technologies and suggest for whom each iron is intended. Before we start, we need to cover a few key COBRA-related items.
COBRA Release Cycle
COBRA follows the same trend that many other larger companies do. This trend involves releasing a new family of irons that shares the same names as their driver and secondary, or more specialized, sets every 18 to 24 months.
ONE Length Versus Standard Length
Introduced several years ago, COBRA remains the only main manufacturer to mass produce ONE Length irons. Each ONE Length irons is built to the length of a standard 7-iron. The aim is to make a more repeatable swing without having to adjust to the different lengths that standard irons have. Most standard-length irons change by a half-inch between each club, meaning an 8-iron will be a half-inch shorter than a 7-iron and two inches shorter than a 4-iron.
Other Technologies and Offerings
The original golf club partner with Arccos, COBRA continues to offer free sensors and a 45-day free trial to the Arccos shot-tracking platform with the purchase of any COBRA club.
Stock options from COBRA are ample, with a good selection of no-upcharge options available for custom builds. Standard off-the-rack options from COBRA will come with a shaft from the KBS golf shaft company and a Lamkin grip.
COBRA Irons: Model-by-Model Overview
COBRA KING CB/MB Irons
Release Date: Feb. 3, 2023
Meant For: The elite ball striker and low-digit handicap.
Combo Set Available: Yes
Available Irons: 3-GW
Shafts: Steel
About the COBRA KING CB/MB Irons
Due to the combo set nature of these irons, we put them together. The MB (muscle-back blade) is the blade iron for COBRA and the CB (cavity-back blade) offers a little more forgiveness. The combination of the two is built with similar looks to better blend and combine the sets for those looking for precision in their scoring clubs and a little added help with the longer clubs.
The COBRA KING CB/MB Irons are made of 5-Step 1025 forged carbon steel that aims to provide exceptional feel and feedback. These irons are not for the faint of heart, with minimal offset and thinner top lines. Thinner soles and a shorter blade length provide improved turf interaction and better shot-shaping abilities.
COBRA KING Tour Irons
Release Date: Feb. 3, 2023
Meant For: The better golfer with consistent iron play. Single-digit handicaps.
Available Irons: 3-GW
Shafts: Steel
About the COBRA KING Tour Irons
A new addition for COBRA in 2023, the KING TOUR irons are a blend between the previously mentioned TOUR CB/MB and the upcoming Forged Tec irons. Packed with more technology and enhancements, the KING Tour looks to offer more forgiveness along with a little extra distance. Those looking for a little added help but wanting a smaller profile iron should look no further!
Key features in this iron include the same 5-Step forging from 1025 carbon steel, with additional CNC-milled undercuts. This allows for better weight distribution for better forgiveness and a lower CG placement. The TPU inserts from COBRA aim to dampen vibrations and improve the sound and feel of the irons.
COBRA KING Forged Tec
Release Date: April 15, 2022
Meant For: Low to mid handicaps looking for a little added distance. Golfers searching in the player’s distance category of irons.
Available Irons: 3-GW
ONE Length Available: Yes
Shafts: Steel/Graphite
About the COBRA KING Forged Tec Irons
This series for COBRA actually offers three different versions, four if you include the KING Forged Tec Black option. The Forged Tech family is a hollow-body player’s distance iron that has a refined shape with a thinner topline and reduced offset compared to previous versions. They are still made from the same 1025 carbon steel but their hollow body is filled with lightweight foam to improve sound and feel.
A multi-material design, the KING Forged Tec family also includes COBRA’s PWRSHELL Face and an additional 20 grams of tungsten for improved stability and CG placement.
The additions to this family of irons include the KING Forged Tec ONE Length that offers the single-length shafts and the dark-finished COBRA King Forged Tec Black.
Where the COBRA KING Forged Tec series changes is with their next irons.
COBRA KING Forged Tec X

Meant For: Mid handicaps looking for a little added distance. Golfers searching in the game-improvement category and are content with a larger iron.
Available Irons: 4-GW

About the COBRA KING Forged Tec X
Following in the footsteps of the other KING Forged Tec irons, the X is constructed of a multi-material hollow-body design. It also contains lightweight foam but the tungsten is increased to 65 grams.
The KING Forged Tec X stands as a slightly larger and more inviting iron within the range of COBRA irons.
COBRA DARKSPEED Irons
Release Date: Jan. 11, 2024
Meant For: Mid to high handicaps searching for game-improvement irons with added technology, forgiveness and distance.
Available Irons: 4-SW
ONE Length Available: Yes
Shafts: Steel/Graphite
About the COBRA DARKSPEED Irons
The newest irons in the COBRA lineup, the DARKSPEED irons are, as COBRA claims, their “longest and most robust iron design.” Available in standard and ONE Length, the hollow-body construction is inspired by metalwood design. Their key technology includes a larger PWRSHELL along with a new H.O.T. Face design. These technologies work together with the refined PWR-BRIDGE weight to provide more ball speed and forgiveness. Finally, the DARKSPEED iron has a soft polymer that dampens vibrations resulting in improved feel and sound.
Stronger lofts also help with added distance, making these a great option for lower swing speed players.
COBRA Women’s DARKSPEED Irons
Release Date: Jan. 11, 2024
Meant For: Women. Made with lighter materials and components.
Available Irons: 5-SW
ONE Length Available: No

About The COBRA Women’s DARKSPEED Irons
Kudos to COBRA for consistently producing an iron set specifically for women. The technology story for the women’s version of the DARKSPEED Irons is the same as the above DARKSPEED Irons, with a new hollow-body construction and the same technology features. The key difference comes in the components—a standard lightweight graphite shaft and smaller lightweight grip.
