My first rain suit made me look more like I was Gorton Fisherman’s younger sister than a golf professional on a rainy day.
At the time, as a woman golfer, you were lucky to even find rain gear.
Things have changed and Galvin Green is making sure that performance, fit, color and style are all parts of the best women’s golf apparel on the market. The new Galvin Green Collection for the fall has more than 30 bold styles and seven new garments.
The Details
Available Aug. 16 More than 30 styles, seven new garments Combination of sustainable and long-lasting garments Ultra-modern styles with waterproof and GORE-TEX technologyBehind the Collection
Galvin Green wanted to create a fall line that allows women golfers to dress with ultra-modern style and class even when the temperatures start to cool. Playing golf with extra clothes on can be a bit tricky. Style and fashion are great but we don’t want to lose rotational ability or feel due to the extra clothing.
According to Product Manager Sofia Ask Klason, “we expect the new designs to be especially popular with those golfers seeking some of the most sustainable, long-lasting garments on the market without compromising on the incredible attention to detail that we take great pride in at Galvin Green.”
I take that to mean premium performance, pieces you have for years and something that helps you look great out on the course. Sign me up.
The New Designs
With more than 30 pieces, I’ll let you do some of your own shopping and browsing through the new Galvin Green collection. However, I think there are a few standout pieces worth mentioning.
Aida Waterproof Jacket
Aida Jacket
The Aida is a waterproof and windproof jacket offered in a GORE-TEX fabric. The jacket has a mesh lining that helps increase warmth without decreasing breathability. Each color pattern features a touch of white for contrast. It has adjustable cuffs and a drawstring hem.
This is a pricey addition to the lineup but it’s a women’s golf rain jacket that should last for years.
Dagmar Hoodie
Dagmar Sweatshirt
Another piece that stood out for me is the trendy new Dagmar hoodie. A lot of men are wearing hoodies so options for women are a great addition to this lineup. I love that they kept the Dagmar clean and sporty looking. It’s perfect for an afternoon nine or a range session. If you want some warmth on and off the course, the Dagmar is a good option.
Darlena Sweater
Darlena Jacket
The Darlena is the first-ever padded women’s sweater from Galvin Green. With two color options (navy and white), the Darlena is a versatile zip-up with a classy look. If you must play golf in those sub 45-degree temperatures, you won’t be freezing.
Nicci Leggings
Nicci Leggings
The Nicci leggings can be worn on and off the course. They come in a navy-and-black pattern and pair well with the outerwear pieces in the lineup. They work both as an underlayer piece or your actual pants when temperatures are mild.
I’m not quite brave enough to wear these on the course just yet but, for versatility under a pair of the Galvin Green women’s rain pants, I really like the concept.
Donya Sweater
As I said, there are more than 30 new designs as part of this collection. These are just some that really caught my eye. The Donya is a women’s V-neck sweatshirt. It’s a really classy-looking sweater that you could probably wear for a fall tennis match as well.
The sweater is designed to allow freedom of movement and ensure you can get the club to parallel at the top. The Donya is a bit more breathable than the Darlena.
I like this piece because it looks like a classic golf sweater but it has breathability, quick-dry features, thermal insulation and range of motion all built in. That’s an impressive combo.
Who Is It For?
Galvin Green women’s golf clothing is for those of us who value quality and longevity over quantity. The fabrics and materials are designed to last. You also get plenty of guidance from Galvin Green on which pieces you need, when you should wear them and what pieces pair well.
Check out Gavin Green’s numbered warming effect numbering system. It is really helpful in deciding which pieces to wear and when.
The bottom line is that the new fall line allows for a combination of style, functionality and performance, something that is often lacking in women’s golf performance wear.
As for me, don’t be surprised to find me with the sugar-coral Donya sweater and white pants. As for the Nikki leggings and the Dagmar hoodie, it could be my new go-to range session pairing. I’ll let you know how it works out.
