Last week, I attended my first LIV event.

While the overall experience exceeded my expectations, there were a few parts of the day that made me do a double-take. Strange doesn’t necessarily mean bad—these are just some things that caught my attention.

Here are five odd and interesting things I saw at LIV Nashville.

1. A “Game Of Thrones” Golf Chair

In the center of the fan village, I found a “Game Of Thrones” golf chair where a volunteer was taking photos of fans sitting in the throne.

The chair, made out of golf clubs, features the logo of all 13 LIV teams.

Was it comfortable? No. Was it extremely warm on a 92-degree day? Yes.

Is it cool or cringey? Social media comments seem split, so let me know what you think.

2. Sweet Tea Dunk Tank

I was not expecting to find a sweet tea dunk tank at a golf tournament.

This station, located at the fan village, had fans throw a football toward a target that would send a (hopefully) willing participant into a red Solo cup full of sweet tea.

“Step right up for the sweetest splash of the summer,” the entrance sign reads. “An accurate throw of the football sends a lucky soul into the South’s unofficial party flag – the humble red Solo cup.”

I waited around for someone to try this but nobody came. Shocking.

3. A Giant Mini-Golf Guitar

Nashville is known as the Music City so, of course, there was a giant guitar on property.

This one was in the form of a miniature golf hole as the LIV players took aim at a hole some 40 feet away. You could find it just left of the 14th tee.

I’m impressed they made this insanely large guitar for one week. The turf, which is colored to look like a guitar, even says LIV Nashville on it.

I would have put this in the fan village. There would have been a much longer line for it.

Overall, it’s a cool idea. Strange, but cool.

4. LIV Golf Hats Were Everywhere

My biggest surprise of the day was how well merchandise sold.

While Crushers hats were the top item, I was stunned at the number of generic LIV hats people bought.

It’s hard to think of another sport where fans want to buy the league logo. You don’t see anyone walking around in a PGA Tour hat, a MLB hat or a NFL hat (except Rob Lowe).

Apparently, some fans really want to represent LIV as a league.

Someone next to me in the merchandise tent bought $160 worth of items. I was skeptical of seeing something like that but it happened.

5. Live Music During Play

You’ve heard of concerts happening after play finishes at a golf tournament. LIV Nashville had those type of concerts after Rounds One and Two.

But what about live music within shouting distance of actual competition?

Right next to the 14th green, there was a small stage for Nashville acts to perform. Spectators gathered in the area which was surrounded by food trucks and a screen to watch the golf.

This is a great idea for exhibition golf like this. It’s a casual environment where the emphasis is not strictly on the golf. Giving fans the opportunity to listen to music, eat local food and watch golf at the same time is something I haven’t seen at a Tour event.

Like I mentioned in my review of the day, this type of golf experience isn’t something that particularly interests me—but there is definitely a market for it.
