Four of our Forum members got the exciting opportunity to put Stix Golf Sets to the test. This review highlights the experiences of those four testers of varying abilities, providing a detailed overview of the Stix Perform Graphite Set, Perform Steel Set, Play Full Set Series and the Compete Driver.
Key Highlights
Stix Golf aims to provide high-quality, affordable golf clubs with a minimalist design. The clubs are designed to meet the needs of a wide range of golfers, offering complete sets, drivers and woods, irons, wedges and putters.
Our testers appreciated the aesthetic appeal, performance and affordability of the clubs. The black PVD finish gives the clubs a sleek, modern look, although some concerns were raised about the durability of the finish. The performance of the graphite and steel shafts were given high grades for improving consistency and distance control with our testers.
Other suggestions included more durable materials in the headcovers and a bit more space in the Stix golf bag, which were part of the full set packages.
The irons and woods offered distance and accuracy, while the putter and driver were highlighted for their feel and control. The clubs were complimented for their overall playability, making them a strong choice for golfers seeking high-quality clubs without breaking the bank as well as those just getting started with the game.
From The Testers
Stix Golf Perform Graphite Set
The full bag set includes a driver, 3-wood, 4-hybrid, 6-iron to pitching wedge, as well as 52-, 56- and 60-degree wedges, putter and stand bag with headcovers. All the clubs have graphite shafts and are available in left- and right-hand, as well as stiff, regular or active shaft flexes.
Tester: Rob Person
First impressions:
Rob Person was initially impressed with the sleek look of the Stix Perform Graphite Set. The black PVD finish gave the clubs a modern and stylish appearance. However, he noted that the finish showed signs of wear quickly, which was a concern for long-term durability and performance.
Performance:
He found the graphite shafts to be a significant improvement over his old steel shafts. The clubs provided more consistent strikes and better distance control. The lighter weight of the graphite shafts also helped reduce fatigue during rounds. He appreciated the overall feel and balance of the clubs, noting that they helped improve his consistency and accuracy on the course.
There were some concerns over durability of the headcovers as well. This did not affect performance in any manner but was significant enough to dock a few points.
The Stix stand bag was described as sufficient and solid, even if it is on the smaller side.
What makes the bag?
“The 4-hybrid to 60 degree wedge are going in my bag! Each club has earned its spot independently. “
On the fence are “the driver and 3-wood. I have a driver and 3-wood that I enjoy using and recently acquired the matching hybrids just prior to this test. All are adjustable and have the shafts to match my needs.” While no slight on these clubs, not all clubs are going to work for all golfers.
Final thoughts:
“The Stix Perform Graphite Set has exceeded my expectations. The consistency and distance control are impressive and the lightweight shafts make a noticeable difference in my game.”
Overall Grade: 96/100
Stix Golf Perform Steel Set
Tester: Climberboy2000
The same set as the Perform Graphite but with steel shafts in the irons and wedges.
First impressions:
Climberboy2000 was impressed with the minimalist design and clean lines of the Stix Perform Steel Set. The clubs had a professional look that appealed to him. The online fitting process was straightforward, ensuring that he received clubs tailored to his specifications.
Performance:
The steel shafts provided a solid feel and excellent feedback on strikes. Climberboy2000 found that the clubs offered consistent performance across the board, with reliable distance and accuracy. The irons, in particular, stood out for their performance, helping him hit more greens in regulation.
Keep or trade?
Everything, except one. “The only club I’d switch out of the bag is the 3-wood. I’ve struggled to hit it well and it has cost me too many strokes … I’ve been playing these for men’s and other tournaments for the past month. I played a Senior Amateur yesterday with the Stix clubs and took 3rd in my division. I would play these anytime, whether in tournaments, money games or for Men’s League. All that said, I have no intention of trading these clubs.”
Final thoughts:
“The Stix Perform Steel Set delivers excellent performance with a solid feel. The irons are particularly impressive, providing consistent distance and accuracy.”
Overall Grade: 95/100
Stix Golf Play Full Set Series
Tester: Matumbo
First impressions:
Matumbo appreciated the cohesive look of the Stix Play Full Set Series. The black finish and minimalist design gave the clubs a modern, stylish appearance. He noted that the clubs felt well-balanced and comfortable during his initial swings.
Performance:
The Play Full Set provided a balance of forgiveness and playability. Matumbo found that the clubs offered consistent performance with good distance and accuracy. The woods and irons performed well, helping him hit better shots from various lies. The putter provided excellent feel and control.
What makes the bag?
“I would play some of these clubs and trade some of these clubs. The putter could definitely find a place in my bag. I love the weight, the feel, and the sound of it. I also get great performance out of it and have been searching for a putter that gives me more confidence.”
The hybrid, 3-wood and wedge were also locks for his bag while the driver and irons are going through further testing before a final decision is made.
Final thoughts:
“These clubs are high quality and perform very well. This is a great beginner set and should last a new golfer quite some time before they feel the need to upgrade. I really enjoyed using the 3-wood, the 4-hybrid, and the putter. While I had some problems with the headcovers and bag, I don’t think this is enough to detract from what this set, and Stix as a whole, offer. I would definitely consider ordering some other clubs down the road.”
Overall Grade: 91/100
Stix Golf Compete Driver
Tester: ZJeb67
First impressions:
ZJeb67 was impressed with the sleek design of the Stix Compete Driver. The driver had a modern look and felt well-constructed. The online fitting process ensured he received a driver suited to his swing characteristics.
Performance:
The Compete Driver provided excellent distance and forgiveness. ZJeb67 found that the driver helped him achieve more consistent drives with better accuracy. The feel and feedback gave him confidence in his swings.
Make the bag?
“I will be using this driver on my golfing journey. I keep striving toward consistent center clubface strikes and a workable fade. If I get there this club will live up to my ‘Stealth Bomber’ nickname.”
Final thoughts:
“The Stix Compete driver is a top-shelf option. For my skill and testing it can “compete” (see what I did there?) with any other driver. It looks outstanding, is adjustable, swings very nicely and comes with a second-to-none headcover.”
Overall Grade: 86/100
