Is TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus Worth It In 2024?
The TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus was the best driver of 2023. To see how a 2023 winner would stack up against the 2024 releases, we included it as part of 2024 testing. The TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus couldn’t pull off back-to-back wins but it managed to grab a top-five finish in the 2024 test. Even though the Stealth 2 Plus is not the newest release from TaylorMade, the results of the 2024 test raise the question of whether the TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus is worth it in 2024. Maybe even more importantly, is it a better buy than the TaylorMade Qi10 LS?
TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus versus TaylorMade Qi 10 LS
The TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus finished in fifth place overall, narrowly beating out the TaylorMade Qi10 LS. Let’s break down how they compared in important categories like forgiveness, accuracy, distance and price.
Distance
The Stealth 2 Plus and the Qi10 LS both scored 8.4/10 for their distance performance. When we examine the data more closely, we find that the Stealth 2 Plus had an average total distance of 255.46 yards.
The Qi10 LS’s average total distance was 252.65. The Stealth 2 Plus is about three yards longer on average.
Model | Total Average Distance (Yards) |
TaylorMade Stealth Plus 2 | 255.46 |
TaylorMade Qi10 LS | 252.65 |
TaylorMade Qi10 | 250.25 |
TaylorMade Qi10 Max | 245.89 |
Accuracy
In the accuracy category, the Qi10 LS beat out the Stealth Plus 2. It finished with a score of 7.8 compared to 7.4 for the Stealth Plus 2.
To determine a driver’s accuracy, we look at straight shot percentage and playable shot percentage. For straight shot percentage, the Stealth Plus 2 had slightly better results than the Qi10, but its playable shot percentage score brought its total accuracy ranking down.
A playable shot is in or within 10 yards of the edge of a 35-yard-wide fairway. We often see this number go down as the total distance goes up.
Forgiveness
The TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus is the more forgiving of the two drivers. When we talk about forgiveness, we look at how consistent a driver is in producing the same shot outcomes. Data used for this includes carry distance deltas and ball speed deltas.
The Stealth Plus 2 ended up with a forgiveness score of 8.0 versus 7.8 for the Qi10 LS.
Price
The TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus has dropped in price to $399. The Qi10 LS is $629. We’ll do the math for you here: the Qi10 LS is $230 more than the Stealth 2 Plus.
That’s a big investment for a performance that does not beat out last year’s Best Golf Driver winner.
Availability
Here’s the elephant in the room. Is it too late to get your hands on a TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus driver? Have you missed the window?
Yes and no.
TaylorMade shows the Stealth 2 Plus as out of stock but there are some new ones available on other websites. You won’t be able to order one custom from the manufacturer and the stock models that are left will likely have limited shaft and loft configurations. (Left-handed golfers may be in luck!)
However, there is always the option of used which could save you even more money.
The TaylorMade Qi10 LS is still completely customizable and easy to get.
TaylorMade Stealth Plus 2 versus TaylorMade Qi 10 Lineup
The TaylorMade Qi10 LS had the most similar results to the TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus, which makes sense considering they are both low-spin models.
However, if you thought a different TaylorMade Qi10 model could outperform the Stealth Plus 2, think again.
You’ll see the TaylorMade Qi10 Max is more forgiving than the Stealth Plus 2 but, of course, you’ll sacrifice distance. In addition, it’s more accurate, again at the expense of about 10 yards.
Model | Distance Score | Accuracy Score | Forgiveness Score | Final Score |
TaylorMade Stealth Plus 2 | 8.4 | 7.4 | 8.0 | 9.1 |
TaylorMade Qi 10 LS | 8.4 | 7.8 | 7.8 | 8.9 |
TaylorMade Qi 10 | 7.7 | 6.4 | 7.9 | 7.9 |
TaylorMade Qi 10 Max | 6.1 | 7.9 | 8.3 | 7.5 |
