Lululemon Commission Golf Shorts Review
There is a lot of cool gear in the golf equipment world that doesn’t always fit neatly into Most Wanted Tests or Buyer’s Guides. You still want to know how it performs. In our We Tried It series, we put gear to the test and let you know if it works as advertised.
What We Tried:
Lululemon Commission Golf Shorts. Lululemon makes some of the most comfortable athleisure clothing. Just recently, the brand launched a golf-specific line of clothing so I had to give it a go.
Who Tried It:
Connor. Director of Soft Goods Testing and resident sneakerhead. I believe golf is better with a pair of cool shoes and comfortable joggers (or in this case, shorts).
The Perfect Golf Shorts?
I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect golf shorts. So far, I’ve found nothing that matches the comfort and versatility of a pair I got from Oakley years ago. I’ve since forgotten the exact model and can’t seem to find another pair. That’s why I was really excited to give Lululemon’s golf shorts a try.
First impressions are everything to me and the Lululemon Commission Golf Shorts had my attention from the jump. From the first touch, the fabric was breathable and stretchy, something I believe every golf short should be.
Has Lululemon created the perfect golf shorts? Let’s find out.
Comfort and Fit
Above all else, golf shorts should be comfortable. A fit that is neither too loose nor too tight is paramount to a comfortable round of golf. The Lululemon Commission Golf Shorts excel here. As opposed to Lululemon’s other casual short offerings, the waistband features a decent amount of stretch as do the legs.
When I say the Lululemon golf shorts are among the stretchiest golf shorts I’ve ever worn, I mean it. Whether you’re a little thicker like me or trend towards the Will Zalatoris body type, the Lululemon Commission Golf Shorts provide a near-perfect fit.
No restrictions, no uncomfortable seams or stitching. The Lululemon Commission Golf Shorts are flat-out comfy.
For those of you wondering, the Lululemon Commission Golf Shorts feature a 10-inch inseam. I found the overall fit to be true to size so I’d suggest going with your typical waist size. If you’re between sizes, the waist offers enough stretch to go down a size.
Small Details, Big Impact
My general worry when reviewing products like the Lululemon Commission Golf Shorts is that the brand hasn’t put any serious thought into making the product suitable for the golf course.
Upon finding both the super-handy tee pocket and zippered golf ball pocket, these worries were quashed.
Tucked inside the right front pocket is a small sleeve-style pocket for holding a golf tee. The zippered golf ball pocket midway down the left thigh was also a welcome addition. Whether you use it for that extra breakfast ball or just like to keep a spare on hand, it was extremely useful. The placement was perfect, too. The pocket is low enough and out of the way that a bulging golf ball won’t impede your swing or putting stroke.
Oh, and for those of you who do tuck in your shirt (or play at a course that requires you to do so), the silicone strip inside the waistband ensures it stays that way. Another little detail that makes a difference.
One Small Annoyance
Nothing is ever perfect. While the Lululemon Commission Golf Shorts are pretty darned close, I did experience one minor annoyance. The pair I’ve been wearing is fairly light in color and I found it to retain dirt a little more than I’d like.
Most marks and stains have easily come out in the wash but some of the darker marks have been more stubborn. Just something to consider if you’re opting for one of the lighter-colored options.
My Go-To Golf Shorts
Lululemon, you’ve done it! My new favorite golf shorts have arrived and there’s only one thing left to do: Retire my old Oakley shorts and pick up a bunch more of the Lululemon Commission Golf Shorts.
If you’re in the market for new golf shorts, you’d be wise to buy the Lululemon Commission Golf Shorts in a few colors before they sell out.
