PUMA X PTC – Apparel and Limited Edition Clubs

PUMA and Kygo’s Palm Tree Crew brand have partnered again. For the first time, COBRA is offering limited-edition putters to complement its LE drivers. The apparel collection is casual yet trendy. The PUMA X PTC Collection is available now.

I don’t quite understand the fascination in trendy circles with collabs. Maybe it’s because I’m old and maybe it’s because Chris Nickel’s MGS X RiFF RAFF idea hasn’t panned out (yet). Nevertheless, cross-pollination of brands—as is the case with Version 2 of PUMA X PTC—isn’t going to go away anytime soon. So I suppose we should try and embrace it.

Officially—as much as a headline is official—the 2022 PUMA X Palm Tree Crew collection is about “blending golf, sport, music and lifestyle into a chic collection designed to perform on the course and make a statement off of it.”

Isn’t golf is a sport? That small redundancy aside, I get it.

If some of this is lost on you, what you need to know is that Palm Tree Crew is the lifestyle brand of DJ, songwriter and record producer Kygo. If you’re not familiar with Kygo (and I wasn’t before the first collab launched last year), a quick YouTube search will bring you up to speed.

High fashion isn’t my world. I’m more of a quarter-zip guy but let me see if I can’t simplify this for my fellow off-trend folks.

The idea here is to blend Kygo’s laid-back vibes with Rickie’s bold style.

PUMA x PTC boils down to some COBRA gear with unique colorways and PUMA apparel with a more casual vibe and, of course, the requite signature Palm Tree Crew logo.

Golf and chill. Or something like that.

COBRA PALM TREE CREW DRIVERS

On the gear side of the equation, COBRA (and Palm Tree Crew) are offering limited-edition versions of the LTDx and LTDx MAX Drivers along with a limited-edition Agera putter.

The drivers feature a matte “peacoat” (that’s navy blue for you plebs) crown white leading edge. The sole features gold weights and other accents. The face is gold as well and, while I’m not sure what kind of statement that makes, it’s the kind of flex that’s going to motivate your playing partners to take your money.

Game on, bitches.

A limited-edition Palm Tree Crew headcover and Project X HZRDUS RDX smoke Blue PVD shaft (64g – stiff) complete the package.

Fair warning. Jet-setting ain’t cheap. The retail price for a LE Palm Tree Crew driver is $599.

COBRA PALM TREE CREW PUTTERS

For the first time, COBRA is offering a limited-edition PTC version of its high-MOI Agera mallet.

Like the driver, the Palm Tree Crew Agera features a bold matte peacoat body and a bolder-still gold SIK face. Something about the look tickles the fancy boy in me, so, as a recent convert to mallet designs, I’m all in on this one.

The limited-edition version comes in 35 inches only (both RH and LH). The grip is a SuperStroke Traxion Tour 2.0. A KBS 120 stepped shaft and Palm Tree Crew headcover finish the package.

PUMA X PTC Apparel

I’m going to start this brief rundown of the PUMA X Palm Tree Crew apparel collection with the CLOUDSPUN shorts and joggers.

Full disclosure: Fashion blogging isn’t my specialty but I do wear clothes (most days) and, as a semi-frequent flier, you better believe I know a good pair of airplane pants when I see them.

The official selling point with the shorts and joggers is an “elevated look for your most casual rounds.” Frankly, if glorified sweatpants can elevate your look, you might be pushing the idea of “country club casual” a bit too far. That said, I am solidly on board with all things CLOUDSPUN. I also love that, unlike traditional joggers (is that a thing?), the PUMA X PTC version fits loose at the ankle. The drawstring waist and zippered waistband add to the versatility.

Available in navy and white for $75 shorts, $95 pants.

PUMA x PTC HOODED GOLF JACKET

Apart from the polo, in my opinion, the closest thing to an essential golf item in the PUMA x PTC collection is the lightweight hooded jacket. Offering a moisture-wicking, stretch performance fabric, it’s the kind of thing nearly every golfer needs.

It’s well suited to spring (and fall) golf where cooler temps in the morning and evenings mandate layering. Toss in the requisite go-anywhere stuff and you’ve got a textbook example of on- and off-course utility.

PUMA X PTC Lightweight Golf Hoodie

It’s simply not possible to launch a golf apparel collection without a hoodie. COBRA x Palm Tree Crew is no exception. Like the jacket, the hoodie is a classic layering piece that transitions seamlessly from the couch to the course. As an added bonus, golf hoodies get the militant traditionalists all fired and that amuses me.

Available in white and navy blazer for $95.

Other PUMA x PTC Items

Also part of the collection are PTC PROADAPT DELTA Gold golf shoes ($220), lightweight tees ($40), performance polos ($80), snapback caps ($45), crew socks, POPTOP Bluetooth ($150) and POPTOP mini Bluetooth speaker ($50).

The PUMA X PTC Collection is available now through PUMAgolf.com, palmtreecrew.com and select retailers. Palm Tree Crew drivers and putters are available through Cobragolf.com.
