PXG Wants to Give You $100!
Yeah. I might have click-baited you just a bit with that headline.
As always: Sorry, not sorry.
The full story here is that PXG doesn’t necessarily want to give you $100 but the company is willing to let you try and take it from them.
Said another way, if you’ve ever thought about trying to pick Bob Parsons’ pocket, now’s your chance.
Brother, show me the money!
In what it’s calling the GEN6 Driver Challenge (thanks for the inspiration, Pepsi), the company is inviting golfers to schedule a driver fitting at a PXG location. If the PXG fitter can’t beat your current driver, you get a $100 Mastercard Rewards card.
No questions asked.
“The PXG GEN6 Driver stands tall next to all the established brands. It’s blazing fast and beyond forgiving. We’re so confident that in nearly every case it will knock out the competition, I am willing to put money on it. To all those who have wondered and waited, or those who have trolled and not tested, now’s the time. You’ve got nothing to lose and everything to gain.” – Bob Parsons, PXG Founder
The signature KABOOM, BABY! is implied.
Every Challenge Has Rules
In the interest of time and keeping you fully informed, I’m just going to paste the process, rules and regs … whatever you want to call them.
Schedule a free PXG GEN6 Driver Challenge fitting online or call 844-PLAY-PXG. Bring your current driver to the custom-fitting appointment. Once warmed up, the PXG master fitter will have you hit five shots with your current driver. Performance data will be captured on Trackman® launch monitor. The three best shots will be selected and recorded. The PXG master fitter will then conduct a PXG GEN6 driver fitting. Once complete, the PXG master fitter will have you hit five shots with the fitted PXG GEN6 driver. The three best shots will be selected and recorded. Results will be reviewed and the winning driver will be identified. Fitter will use average total distance (carry and roll) to determine the distance-winning driver. Fitter will use Side Total (+/-) to determine the dispersion-winning driver. PXG is the winner if either category is better than your current driver. That last one will likely be the one that gets you.
For you to take Bob’s money, your driver must beat the PXG GEN6 driver for both distance and accuracy.
You’re playing in Parsons’ sandbox now and, sorry, them’s the rules.
Additional caveats to be aware of include:
Swing speed average must be within three mph – PXG GEN6 driver versus participant’s current client’s driver. (No cheating) Same brand of golf ball must be used throughout the challenge. (Fair) Limit: One challenge per person. (No mulligans, no playing until you win)Typically, PXG charges for fittings but during the challenge period, fittings are free.
(Somewhere, MyGolfSpy Founder Adam Beach is smiling.)
The Rest of the PXG GEN6 Driver Challenge Details
The GEN6 Driver Challenge kicks off today and runs through Aug. 31. In addition to scheduled fittings, PXG will host GEN6 Driver Challenge nights in select stores.
As an alternative, you could try showing up at the gate at Scottsdale National.
Kidding. Absolutely DO NOT do that. Seriously. Don’t.
What Are The Odds?
If you’re curious about your chances of winning, in behind-the-scenes testing with more than 50 golfers, PXG won 94 percent of the time. PXG drivers were, on average, 11 yards longer than the competitive gamers.
You only have to win by 1 … or less.
Nothing to Lose
Here’s the thing. You’ve got nothing to lose.
Taking the PXG GEN6 Driver Challenge will cost you nothing but your time.
Has any other driver company ever offered up cash money (well, plastic money) if they can’t beat what’s in your bag? If nothing else, this is a pretty strong flex from PXG.
As Bob Parsons said in that big ol’ formatted quote above, “You’ve got nothing to lose”. And who knows? You might walk away with an entirely different opinion of PXG drivers which, I suppose, is the whole point of the GEN6 Driver Challenge.
