SuperStroke Pantheon Golf Bag Review
There is a lot of cool gear in the golf equipment world that doesn’t always fit neatly into Most Wanted Tests or Buyer’s Guides. You still want to know how it performs. In our We Tried It series, we put gear to the test and let you know if it works as advertised.
What We Tried:
The SuperStroke Pantheon Stand Bag. Yes, your dad’s favorite grip brand has released its first-ever golf bag.
Who Tried It:
Connor. Managing Editor and resident sneakerhead. I believe golf is better with a pair of cool shoes and comfortable joggers. If another golf bag shows up at my door, my wife may just call it quits.
One can only hope that if the SuperStroke Pantheon is the bag that finally sends her over the edge, that it’s at least a viable performer. I may end up living in it, after all.

I don’t even have to ask. I know you’re thinking exactly what I am: Since when did SuperStroke make a golf bag?
If you’d asked that question a few months ago, the answer would have been, “They don’t.”
Oh, how times have changed. The SuperStroke Pantheon is absolutely outside of what we’re used to from SuperStroke. And, in my mind, it’s a fairly risky move.
If the bag flops, does SuperStroke’s stellar reputation go with it? Not necessarily. But even still, expansion can be a challenge. This is a product category that is overcrowded with options, making it extremely difficult to stand out.
Despite this, SuperStroke didn’t just throw stuff at the wall to find what sticks. They did some legitimate research on how to make a decent golf bag. Here’s what I mean.
The Good
Materials
The first thing you’ll notice about the SuperStroke Pantheon stand bag is its sleek appearance. The synthetic leather construction gives this bag a very premium look and feel. This material choice does add some weight but you can line this up with any premium bag on the market and it’ll pass the sniff test.
Honestly, the trend right now is to go for heavier synthetics rather than worry so much about weight. Even still, the 5.85-pound Patheon fits right in line with some of the best golf stand bags on the market.
Straps
A good stand bag must be comfortable to carry. Comfort starts with the straps. The dual-strap carry system on the SuperStroke Pantheon stand bag is more than serviceable. While I wish the actual mechanism for interchanging the straps was a little easier to use (the Pantheon includes a single strap in case you prefer it), these straps are very comfortable. The shaping contours to the shoulders without digging into the chest area. The straps and their smooth edges provide a pinch-free carry experience.
Magnets
Magnetic ball pockets are trendy but not all manufacturers implement them correctly. For my money, SuperStroke nailed their magnetic ball pocket.
The “hood” makes it easy to open the pocket and the magnets provide just enough resistance to keep the pocket from opening accidentally. Once you’ve retrieved your breakfast ball (yes, I saw that first drive), the pocket snaps shut on its own, something I really love.
The Middling
Inevitably, some features of a golf bag kind of just exist. They’re there, they’re necessary, but they don’t really stand out.
For the SuperStroke Pantheon, the stand system and dividers are just that. They do the job but nothing more. And that’s OK. A stand bag does need a functional stand system and the full-length dividers do keep your clubs separate.
Room to Improve
Not all is good in SuperStroke bag land. There are a few things I would change if I was designing this bag.
The most glaring issue is the water bottle pocket. Not only is it relatively small but it completely interferes with the side storage pocket. This makes it hard to carry a large water bottle and gives you less space overall for the rest of your gear.
Speaking of pockets, I wish the rest of the pockets (including the waterproof pocket and full-length apparel pocket) opened more easily. These pockets are just a little stiff so it can be hard to get your hands in to grab what you need. This tends to happen with heavier, stiffer materials like synthetic leather versus a more canvas-like material.
Even with the lack of “give” in the opening of the pockets, I was satisfied with the overall amount of storage (save the water bottle blunder I mentioned).
A Noble First Attempt
How did SuperStroke grade out for its first-ever golf bag? I’d say pretty good. The SuperStroke Pantheon is not the best golf bag to ever exist. But that’s OK. Only one can be the best. Rather than get caught up in rankings, it’s fine to admit that SuperStroke did a lot well and did some things that need to be improved.
Even still, the Patheon is a noble attempt for what is the first (and hopefully not last) expansion into other golf categories for SuperStroke.
The Pantheon gets the job done. Period. It’s largely no-frills, no-nonsense, with a few non-negotiables to at least consider. If you’re looking for something a little different, premium or just love the SuperStroke brand, you’ll find the Patheon stand bag to be a worthy addition to the golf bag market.
