TaylorMade Golf has just announced a new addition to its collection of driving irons / utility irons. The new Stealth Bomber (could the name be any more on the nose?) joins the Stealth UHY and Stealth UDI driving irons as alternatives to your driver or 3-wood when finding the fairway is an absolute must.
What’s a fairway? Asking for a friend.
About the TaylorMade Stealth Bomber Iron
There’s no press release full of carefully curated and crafted quotes from the R&D team. Instead, it’s more of a what you see is what you get approach (especially if what you see is a Stealth Iron).
Simply put, the Stealth Bomber iron can be thought of as a game improvement design adapted or expanded for golfers looking for distance off the tee along with plenty of forgiveness.
Speaking as a guy who has had a rough go of it off the tee this year, the Stealth Bomber is not without its appeal.
TaylorMade Stealth Bomber Iron Design Touches
And yeah, the TaylorMade Stealth Bomber iron isn’t technically old, but as I said, the underlying tech dates back to the beginning of last season.
Other cosmetic details include a bomb graphic that replaces the club number on the toe (though the loft is still visible).
It also comes with a headcover inspired by historic fighter planes.
I’m torn here. I’ve very much anti-iron headcovers, and the Stealth Bomber headcover is way more iron than hybrid, but the shark design isn’t nearly as lame as your typical iron cover, so I’m willing to let it slide.
