Like many of you, my putting is hit or miss. It’s all or nothing. I want “all” so I tested the MS-3D Putting Arc to see if it had any impact on my putting stroke. This works best for golfers with an arc-style putting stroke (like mine). I’ll give you the full scoop on what the MS-3D Putting Arc offers and whether it’s worth your money.
What We Tried: MS-3D Putting Arc
A golf training aid designed to help golfers of all levels improve their putting stroke and guide the putter head in a perfect arc. The MS-3D features an adjustable mirror for feedback.
Why Use A Putting Aid?
Putting training aids can help improve stroke consistency, build confidence and decrease the overall dispersion of your putts. Making more putts will quickly lower your golf scores. Too many amateur golfers accept two or three putts when one putt is there for the taking.
Who Tried It?
Britt Olizarowicz, MyGolfSpy writer and scratch golfer. The weakness in my golf game has always been putting. I’m up for trying any training aid that can help me turn the putter into my favorite club.
What Is The MS-3D Putting Arc?
With the MS-3D Putting Arc, you can line up the putter on the heel or the toe of the club to get a perfect inside-to-square-to-inside stroke.
You’ll also get a small adjustable mirror that balances on the top of the arc. It’s designed to help with things like head and shoulder position.
Testing and Results
However, when I first took the MS-3D Putting Arc out of the box, I feared it was too simple. It’s a piece of plastic in the shape of an arc. It’s not adjustable and it doesn’t have a 30-minute “explainer” video that comes with it.
I took the Putting Arc to the practice green. I preferred to place the heel of the putter on the arc, but you can also use the toe. After about 15 minutes of playing with the design and practicing my stroke, I went to the first tee.
Here’s what I learned.
My eyes were not far enough over the ball even though I thought they were. I’ve been having trouble lately with alignment and this instantly fixed it. I had much more confidence in my stroke after just 15 minutes of working with the MS-3D.When I went to the course, I almost still felt the arc guiding my putter head. I imagine this feeling will only get more pronounced if I commit some more time. In fact, using the MS-3D as a tool to warm up before a round seems like a really good idea.
I’m a big fan of this training aid for putts 20 feet and under. It’s harder to use for the longer putts but if I make everything from 20 feet in, I’d be fine with that!
Overall Impressions
Who Is This For?
Any golfer who wants to improve their putting. More than 1,400 professional golfers have used it since 2002. If it works for them, it works for us.
It’s priced just under $90 so you should commit to spending some time working with the tool. It’s recommended to spend five or 10 minutes a few times per week. You won’t have to stand there for hours.
If you want to stick to more of a straight-back/straight-through style putting stroke, there could be better options like the Eyeline Golf Putting Alignment Mirror.
Final Thoughts and Review
What stood out most to me about the MS-3D Putting Arc was its ability to help golfers rapidly improve their game. You can’t help but want to copy the motion that the arc naturally sets for you. I’m not surprised that this has been used to help golfers win PGA Tour events. If you have an arc-style putting stroke and want a great way to work on it at home or before a round, the MS-3D Putting Arc should do the trick.
