What makes golf memorable?
Toulon Small Batch putters celebrate history. The Small Batch Tulsa celebrated a historical golf location, the Small Batch Palo Alto celebrated an influential person and the Small Batch Paris celebrated a significant golf achievement.
This month, the Toulon Small Batch La Jolla celebrates all three.
La Jolla is rad
Though it would likely serve me my lunch, Torrey Pines is a bucket list course for me. I’m sure it is for many of you as well. There is a reason Torrey Pines has hosted major pro and amateur events and is featured in lots of video games. It’s memorable.

As far as golf with a story, that round is tops for me. I didn’t even care that I had to miss the playoff round on Monday because of work. I was spent and satisfied after Sunday.
That is the inspirational trifecta of the Small Batch La Jolla. The city (La Jolla), the history (2008 U.S. Open at Torrey Pines) and the person (Tiger Woods).
That’s a lot for a putter to live up to!
Tiger Style
Someone once told me they consider that particular Newport 2 the most famous putter ever. I agree.
It was a big deal when Tiger shelved the NP2 for a NIKE Method putter in 2010 and an even bigger deal when the Newport 2, with all of its glorious dings and dents, found its way back into his bag about a decade later.
The La Jolla’s fancy steel fits the theme as well, though the 904L stainless steel of the La Jolla may out-fancy the German stainless steel of Tiger’s Newport 2.
Final thoughts on the Toulon Small Batch La Jolla
While Tiger’s putter may be worth millions, the value of other putters is often determined more by emotional connection than historical significance.
This putter is a great example of that. As I said, the 2008 U.S. Open is one of the tournaments that has stuck in my brain. I’ve watched that Sunday round numerous times since. Since the Toulon Small Batch La Jolla is connected to that event, Tiger and the city I dream about moving to, it has value to me as a collectible. You may feel differently and that’s fine.
In any case, the Toulon Small Batch La Jolla is a cool putter inspired by the greatest golfer of my generation winning a historic tournament on an amazing course in a beautiful city. That’s memorable.
