There is a lot of cool gear in the golf equipment world that doesn’t always fit neatly into Most Wanted Tests or Buyer’s Guides. You still want to know how it performs. In our We Tried It series, we put gear to the test and let you know if it works as advertised.
What We Tried:
The lululemon ShowZero polo. A new garment from the Canadian athleisure giant that promises to, as the name suggests, show zero sweat.
Who Tried It:
Connor. Director of Content and resident sneakerhead. I’ve never considered myself a sweater but then I moved to Virginia where it’s seemingly always hot and frustratingly humid. Now I can’t help but perspire profusely when I play golf.
You’ll have to excuse my poorly executed selfies but it was the best way to “check in” every so often to see if I was sweating through the shirt.
Test conditions
Normally I wouldn’t bore you with the weather details of my round but there’s no other way to convey my experience with the lululemon ShowZero polo.
I put the lululemon ShowZero polo through an extreme test. Through its perspiration paces. Ninety-nine degrees. Nearly 70 percent humidity. No one else on the golf course but me (I wonder why).
My hypothesis: If I can’t sweat through the shirt in these conditions, it’s a miracle.
From 100 to zero
I’ll save you the moist details but trust me …. I was sweaty.
I’m not exactly sure how the ShowZero technology works but it does. When you flip the shirt inside-out, you can clearly see where it’s wet. But on the outside, it appears completely dry.
That’s some voodoo if I’ve ever seen it.
The polo itself feels a bit thicker than, say, the Logo Sport Polo that lululemon also makes. Perhaps there’s some sort of layering that’s behind the ShowZero technology?
It’s a fairly simple test. Does it show sweat? Nope. Does it feel, look and act like a normal polo? Yep.
The lululemon ShowZero polo is a good everyday shirt. It’s a great warm-weather shirt.
