Masters 2025: What the hole stats really showed
We looked at how the course played this year and made some comparisons to last year to find some of the most interesting facts.
The 5th hole (Magnolia) is the hardest
For the second year in a row, the par-4 fifth hole was the hardest hole at Augusta. The scoring average was 4.324. Only 18 birdies were made there all week but there were 10 doubles or worse.
A strong finish is not guaranteed
The 18th hole ranked second in overall difficulty. There were 75 bogeys and seven doubles or worse and it played to an average of 4.243. It makes Rory’s birdie on the first playoff hole much more impressive.
Rory wasn’t the only one who let the 13th get to him
“Azalea”, the 13th hole at Augusta, is always among the more exciting scoring holes. The scoring average was 4.828, up from 4.76 in 2024. There were six eagles and nearly 100 birdies but some big numbers.
If you want birdies, look to holes 2 and 8
Golfers searching for a birdie need to look for holes two and eight. They combined for 240 birdies and 12 eagles, making them the two holes where players averaged well under par.
