You Can Buy Tiger Woods’ TaylorMade Wedges
Building on yesterday’s theme of you couldn’t get it, but now you can, TaylorMade has released MG4 RAW TW Grind wedges on TaylorMadeGolf.com.
In a nod to keeping it simple, the name tells you most of what you need to know.
It’s a TaylorMade MG4 wedge with a raw finish and a TW sole grind.
What differentiates the “Tour Exclusive” version of the wedge is that, unlike the retail model, these are built to Tiger’s exact specs. That includes a fully raw design (retail versions have raw faces with a chrome finish).
(Why golfers are often asked to pay more for an unfinished wedge is a discussion for another day. Guys, you literally saved the time and expense of the finishing step.)
I digress.
The signature feature of the TW grind is a high-bounce leading edge paired with relief in the heel into the trailing edge. The design maintains the forgiveness that comes from higher bounce on full shots, while still keeping the leading edge relatively close to the ground when laid open.
According to TaylorMade, “the MG4 RAW TW Grind wedge has a slightly larger footprint that gives players a sense of roundness and continuity throughout the clubhead profile.”
The MG4 RAW TW Grind wedge is available in 56 and 60 degrees. They’re outfitted with Dynamic Gold Tour Issue S400 shafts and Golf Pride Tour Velvet Cord grips.
Availability is limited to right-hand only. And while lefties won’t like that, it makes sense given that I’ve never seen Tiger play a left-handed wedge.
Retail price for the TaylorMade MG4 RAW TW wedge is $199.99. Available now.
