G/FORE, Mr. Porter Want You to Take Mental Health Seriously

Mental health, especially men’s mental health, is not talked about as often as it should be.

Luxury boutique Mr. Porter and disruptive golf brand G/FORE hope to start a conversation with the release of a new limited-edition apparel collection.

Releasing under the private label Mr. P, the new G/FORE x Mr. P golf collection hopes to bring some awareness to men’s mental and physical health via donation. Until May 15, 50 percent of net profits from the aforementioned collection will be donated to the Mr. Porter Health in Mind Fund.

The special collaboration is headlined by seven ready-to-wear styles and two G/FORE golf shoes. The popular Gallivanter and the new Gallivan2r receive a stylish makeover, courtesy of Mr. P.

PXG Irons: Model By Model

PXG made a splash with their premium golf clubs accompanied by premium prices. Since then, their lineup has significantly expanded, along with their range of prices. PXG now offers several families of golf irons, each at various price points to meet the needs of different consumers. With finishes and options within those families, PXG has a complete range of irons that are definitely worth a deep dive.

PXG Iron Families:

Within each family of PXG irons, there are many options. If you are visiting their website, you can see there are older models that remain current.

That said, their core families of irons are the 0211 series, their entry-level or game-improvement iron. The next numbered line is the 0317 irons, which includes blades and cavity-back irons. We then get into the Gen series, the newest of which is Gen 6 0311 series that has several finishes for each of the two models in that family. Finally, there is the GEN5 family. This family will not be covered in-depth as they have replacements within the newer ranges. However, for those looking at PXG clubs for a lesser price, these should be on your radar.

PXG Irons: Model-by-Model Overview

We usually go over a few of the key technologies for the brand and cover a few highlights but, with an extensive range, I felt it best to dive right into it and, for a change, we start with the more forgiving models.

PING 2024 Putter Line Extension

PING adds six new models to their “nameless” putter line. Each new model is optimized for individual performance.Pre-sale begins today, with putters in shops May 2.

In 2023, PING did the unthinkable. They released a line of putters without a name.

The individual putter models had names but not the line as a whole. Ultimately, they were just called the PING Putter line. PING refers to them as the “New PING Putters” on their website.

Today, the “New PING Putter” family grows by six models.

In an industry characterized by marketing and name recognition, it seemed odd to release something that didn’t even have a name. How can you Google something if that something has no name to search for?

The nameless nature of the current PING putter line comes from the atypical way the line was constructed. Normally, new putter lines feature a new technology or design component that unifies the putters.

Nelly Korda Deserves Her Caitlin Clark Moment, So Why Isn’t She Getting It?

Women’s golf finally has the player it long needed.

Nelly Korda, a 25-year-old American with an endearing personality, has taken over the LPGA Tour. After winning the Chevron Championship, her second major victory, Korda now has won five tournaments in a row to take a commanding place as the best women’s golfer in the world.

Similar to Scottie Scheffler in the men’s game, Korda is simply on another level compared to her competition. She even got the bad end of the draw for the first two rounds this past week in Houston, but it didn’t matter. Korda is first in Strokes Gained tee to green and second in Strokes Gained around the green, which is eerily in near lockstep with Scheffler.

How are you supposed to beat that? Apparently, for the moment, you don’t.

As a big U.S.-born fan of the women’s game, I used to pine for days when an American woman dominated. I grew up watching Annika Sorenstam and Lorena Ochoa, among other greats, who brought significant attention to the LPGA Tour—but we always lacked a supernova talent from the U.S.

Malbon Digs Deep Into the Archives for New Balance 550 Golf

The resurgence of Boston-based New Balance needs to be studied. Over the last three years or so, New Balance has made its way back into the closets of the world’s sneakerheads.

That meteoric rise is thanks, in large part, to the retro of the New Balance 550. But before the popular, chunky shoe took over sneaker shops and college campuses around the globe, it was a relatively unknown, low-top basketball shoe lost in a myriad of NIKE and Reebok sneakers during the 1980s.

As one would expect with such stiff competition, the New Balance 550 quickly died out. That is, until NB brought it out of hibernation in 2020. Fast forward to now and the once-forgotten basketball shoe is a cult-classic sneaker with a massive following.

Given Malbon’s history with New Balance and their penchant for streetwear, it was only a matter of time before the popular NB 550 made its way to the golf course.

And that brings you up to speed.
