Amazon Finds: Frogger BrushPro Golf Club Cleaner

The Problem

Grooves on your golf club full of sand, dirt, grass and/or grit?  Trying to clean it with a tee can be tee-dious (sorry) and not very effective.  A towel might not be enough to get them really clean, either.

The Solution

The Frogger BrushPro Golf Club Cleaner is here to keep your clubs clean and debris-free.  With a 2.5-foot retractable cord, it can live on your bag with enough reach to get any angle you need to clean the clubs. It also has a retractable groove cleaner that can get down deep between the grooves to ensure a perfect clean every time.

How I Found It

I’ve become somewhat obsessive about keeping my clubs clean, knowing that dirt, grass and debris can negatively affect spin and control. I’ve been looking for a better option than my $2.99 dish scrubber that I’ve been using. I found the Frogger BrushPro Golf Club Cleaner on Amazon and with more than 2,500 reviews (averaging 4.7 stars), and costing only $19.95, this was something I was very interested in testing.

How it Worked (and didn’t)

The Frogger comes ready-to-go with a very stiff nylon and phosphorous bronze brush, which is suitable for all cast clubs. They include a 100-percent nylon option for softer forged clubs. Switching heads is incredibly easy and weirdly satisfying: Simply open the groove cleaner to 90 degrees, slide the bristle brush off, slide the new one on. Then close the groove cleaner and you’re good to go.

I found the bristles on the main brush (my irons are cast, not forged) to be incredibl y effective: Just a quick scrub back and forth on the face of the iron was more than enough to clear even the thickest dirt/sand.  Only twice over two rounds did I need to use the groove cleaner—the first time because I’d failed to properly clean my 6-iron from my last round so some dirt had hardened in the grooves and the second because I wanted to give the whole bag a proper cleaning and made sure everything was as new as possible. In both instances, the retractable groove cleaner made quick work of the grime.
