BGT Stability Tour 2 Polar Putter Shaft

The new Stability Tour 2 Polar shaft features the same construction as the successful Stability Tour putter shaft. The new white finish features enhanced durability.MSRP $299

Let’s check out the new Stability Tour 2 Polar putter shaft from Breakthrough Golf Technologies (BGT).

For those of you not in the know, BGT was founded by Barney Adams. Yes, that Barney Adams—the man who founded Adams Golf and who designed that Tight Lies fairway wood that many of you still have in your bag. How many times has your Tight Lies fairway delivered your round-saving shot?

This time around, Adams has a different shot in mind. Rather than giving you gear to get to the green, Breakthrough Golf Technologies develops gear to help you putt better once you are there. Specifically, their game is putter shafts.

While boutique putter shafts are moving into the mainstream these days, such was not the case when BGT launched the first incarnation of the Stability Shaft. Putter shafts were essentially an overlooked element. Sure, some companies had previously dipped their toes into the putter shaft pool but no one was truly swimming laps. Steel shafts were cheap and consumers (and maybe companies) thought they were as good as anything.

The New 2021 RomaRo Ray V V1 Iron!

Introducing the RomaRo Ray V V1 Irons! A Hollow blade with unique inner weight screw technology to provide different performance characteristics. Today there are many hollow players irons on the market, in a somewhat newer segment in the states but has long been around in Japan. RomaRo has a unique take on this type of iron with their new Ray -V- V1 iron.

The Ray V1 is a single piece S20 forged iron yet has a long hollow port milled out, which can take 3 different toe weight screws and 3 different inner insert screws of varied length and material. By changing these screws/inserts, you can alter the performance and feel of the iron. The shorter screw is made of titanium and creates a more firm and solid impact yet increases ball speeds, while the longer screw made of chrome-molybdenum steel makes the impact feel softer. Mix and match the 3 varied weight screws with the 3 inserts to alter the ball’s initial velocity, launch angle, spin rate, and even feel of hitting within the same head or remove the insert screw entirely to raise the center of gravity and increase ball speeds.

The new Ray V1 utilizes a reverse taper blade that thickens near the top line area yet remains unseen at address; combined with its diagonally ground top line it creates the appearance of a compact players iron slightly larger than a traditional muscle back.

The Ray V1 is sold with a base set of #5-PW.  #3 and #4 are optional.  The standard weight screw configuration is (stainless steel 3g) + inner screw (titanium 4.5g) installed

Sold separately:
Weight screw Titanium (1.5g), Stainless steel (3g), Tungsten (5g), Tungsten (7g)

Callaway JAWS Full Toe Wedges: Spin Machines

There are two types of golfers and the new Callaway Jaws Full Toe wedge is expected to snuggle up with both of them.

First is the golfer who absolutely adores the PM Grind. Callaway is certain that golfer will swoon and gush over Jaws Full Toe.

And second, is the golfer who gags at the very sight of the PM Grind and at pretty much every other full-face, high-toe wedge, for that matter. Callaway says that golfer, too, will swoon and gush over Jaws Full Toe.

At least, that’s what Callaway is hoping.

Pretty lofty expectations, wouldn’t you say?

TaylorMade P790 Irons (2021 Model)

With a new P790, TaylorMade has updated the quintessential player’s distance iron.Enhancements include a new SpeedFoam Air filling and refined cosmetics.Retail price is $1,399 for a seven-piece set.

Man, it sure is tough out there for a player and, by player, I mean golfers. Tee times are in short supply. New gear is even tougher to come by, especially if it’s custom. Pick any manufacturer and they’ve probably got heads. Sure, they probably don’t have shafts and they definitely don’t have much in the way of grips but two out of three ain’t bad, right?

Right?

Industry-wide, backorders, delays and outright unavailability are par for the course these days. In the best of scenarios golfers get fitted, order, cross their fingers and wait … and then wait some more.

Some of that’s on you. You should have known better than to order MCC Plus4s. Back of the line. No soup for you!

TaylorMade MG3 Wedges (a new milled grind wedge)

With the new TaylorMade MG3 wedges, the company looks to continue its momentum in the category. The new designs pair clean lines with existing RAW Face and Milled Grind technologies.Retail price is $180. Available Sept. 3.

My first wedges were TaylorMade. RAC Black—52, 56, 60—as was the standard progression in those days. I played them for a year, switched to Cleveland and haven’t bagged a TaylorMade wedge since.

By reputation, Cleveland was still THE brand in the wedge category. Vokey was only beginning to Spin Mill grooves but the prevailing wisdom at the time was that those were the only two wedge brands that mattered.

In the years since, Vokey has become the undisputed No. 1 while Cleveland and Callaway battle for second. Over the years, our testing has found numerous competent alternatives but the reality is that the majority of the market is plenty content with those three options.

TaylorMade’s comparative lack of success in the wedge market isn’t for lack of trying. In a category that demands little and offers few opportunities for innovation, TaylorMade has given it the old college try. You’ve got assorted groove technologies. The xFT wedge with its replaceable faces was either overly ambitious or just ahead of its time. More recently, TaylorMade has leveraged milled sole grinds for greater manufacturing consistency.

Cleveland Launcher XL Halo Metal Woods: Go Big, Part II

Cleveland Launcher XL Halo Metal Woods – Key Takeaways

Next-generation metal woods focus on forgiveness. All models feature sole Gliderails and Cleveland’s Rebound Frame.Fairways and hybrids go on sale Aug. 20.

This week’s launch of the Cleveland Launcher XL Halo metal woods is, to say the least, different.

A unified launch—drivers, fairways and hybrids—is a golf tradition, reportedly going back to Old Tom Morris introducing his first Brassie-Cleek-Spoon set. Cleveland, however, is telling Old Tom, “Hold my beer.”

Just one week after announcing its new Launcher XL drivers, Cleveland is bringing you the companion Launcher XL Halo fairways and hybrids.

Why would Cleveland mess with tradition?

Simple. Two blog articles are better than one blog article, amiright?
