2025 Masters Cut Line: Big Names Who Won’t Play the Weekend

Earlier this week, we shared the odds for the Masters, highlighting some big names considered favorites to contend. As is the Masters policy, the field was cut to the top 50 players and ties after Friday’s second round. The cut line was two over par, just one shot below the historical average. Here are some pros who usually stick around for the weekend but won’t be there this year.

Russell Henley (79-68)

After a first round of 79, it was easy to count Henley out. He got things going early on Friday and was looking like he might pull it off. A bogey on the 18th hole ended his comeback attempt and he missed the cut by one.

Dustin Johnson (74-73)

Dustin Johnson, 2020 Masters champion, doubled the 18th hole in Round 2 and that was it for him. He came into the Masters having missed three of his last five major cuts and hasn’t looked sharp on LIV, either. Betting markets listed him at +160 to miss the cut.

Keegan Bradley (74-73)

Keegan Bradley made a double on the front nine Friday and never found his footing after that. Bogeys at 14 and 17 meant he needed a birdie on 18 just to have a chance and it didn’t happen.

Tony Finau (75-73)

Tony Finau was in trouble after Round 1. Despite a strong front nine in Round 2, three bogeys on the back derailed his hopes.

Odyssey unveils Red Seven X putter | What you need to know

The new Odyssey Red Seven X putter is based on Xander Schauffele's gamer that he used to win two majors last year.

Odyssey Releases Xander’s Red Seven X Putter

Sometimes I swear we are living in a simulation. Right after receiving the email about the new Odyssey Red Seven X, I watched Xander Schauffele sink a 60-foot putt at the Masters.

It’s like whoever is controlling the narrative of my life wanted me to pay extra attention to this putter.

Truth be told, the bomb-dropping synergy was unnecessary. Schauffele’s prowess with his Red Seven X is well-documented and includes some serious achievements. Two majors and an Olympic gold medal makes for a hell of a resume for any putter.

As we move officially into the 2025 golf season, Odyssey wants you to be able to putt like Schauffele, or at least play the same putter.

Red, milled, AI-free

The Odyssey Red Seven X is a bit of a throwback putter. First of all, it’s red. Odyssey was all-in on red (and black) putters back in their 2017 O-Works line. Since then, only Schauffele’s putter is red.

What Do PING’s New Putters And The Fastest Shoe In the World Have In Common?

Golf isn’t a sprint. It’s a marathon.

Just because you bogey the first hole doesn’t mean you can’t make up for it on the next. Or the next. That three-putt on the front nine is all but forgotten when you nail a birdie putt on 18.

Because it doesn’t matter how you start. Like a 26.2-mile race, it only matters how (or where) you finish.

But what if we take the analogy one step further?

Golf, like running, requires proper equipment. Playing a round with an ill-fitted putter or crappy golf ball is equivalent to running 26.2 miles in flip-flops. It just doesn’t work.

Best Drivers For Forgiveness 2025 (Top 37 Ranked)

Every golfer can benefit from a little forgiveness. During our 2025 driver testing, a few models stood out for their ability to perform consistently across a wide range of swing speeds and handicap levels.

It’s worth noting that some of the most forgiving drivers didn’t finish at the top of our overall rankings. That usually comes down to one thing—distance. In many cases, there’s a tradeoff between distance and forgiveness that golfers need to weigh. If your priority is keeping the ball in play and avoiding big misses, these are the drivers worth your attention. They have the most consistent carry distance and ball speed deltas and the smallest dispersion in the test.

The best driver for forgiveness

The most forgiving driver of 2025 is the PXG Black Ops 0311 Tour-1. It did a great job of producing repeatable outcomes but it had some weaknesses when it came to accuracy. Testers frequently saw a strong right bias and punishing results on mishits, contributing to its 21st-place finish overall. It’s a high-potential driver for players prioritizing forgiveness but proper fitting is essential to unlock its full performance.
