2022 BEST OF GOLF AWARDS

UNIQUE. INNOVATIVE. COOL.

Some of the most imaginative golf products come from garages, studios and workshops.

We are shining the spotlight on some of these and the people behind them in our Best of Golf 2022 awards, our new annual index of the year’s unique golf products around the globe.

GOLDEN TEE

Who doesn’t want one of these? I can still remember almost breaking both my thumbs on the massive track wheel trying to rip 300-yard drives in the corner of some dark-lit bar in college. When it comes to the king of golf arcade games, Golden Tee rules. You know it, I know it. Now you can own it.

North Berwick! Gullane! The Genesis Scottish Open Returns To East Lothian

Take a narrow tableland, tilt it a little from right to left, dig a deep bunker on the front side, approach it diagonally, and you have the Redan. At North Berwick, of course, all these things were done in the beginning by nature. The only original thing that the greenkeeper did was to place the tee so that the shot had to be played cornerwise, so to speak, instead of directly down the tableland. C.B. MACDONALD

GLOVE VERSUS NO GLOVE

OUR JOB IS YOUR GAME

In golf, there are many key accessories, perhaps none greater than the glove. It’s not only a fashion statement. It’s a key performance ingredient.

Or so we’ve always believed.

At our headquarters, Most Wanted Testing takes precedence. However, throughout the year, impactful ideas come to life via our testing facility.

Today, we dive into the unknown: Are there any performance differentials when wearing a golf glove?

HOW WE TEST

Per usual, every test we conduct utilizes two key components: Foresight GCQuad and Titleist Pro V1 golf balls. Data is collected using the GCQuad. By using Pro V1 golf balls, we are able to eliminate variables.

“We needed to create a platform that was about performance and not marketing, pure and simple. I wanted to flip it on its head,” says Beach, who originally started one of the first golf commerce sites on the internet in the late 1990’s before selling and starting MyGolfSpy. “I wanted to make the cream of the crop rise to the top and all the other bullshit that had been peddled to golfers for decades go away. Somebody needed to clean this up and say, ‘Alright, what exactly is worth my money?’”

13th At Augusta National: It's A New Tee!

All the great mass of golfing history and tradition—principally, perhaps, the latter—clusters lovingly within sight of the grey towers of the old University town; and, to most, the very name St Andrews calls to mind not a saint nor a city, nor a castle nor a University, but a beautiful stretch of green links with a little burn, which traps golf balls, and bunkers artfully planted to try the golfer’s soul. HORACE HUTCHINSON (1890)
