Welcome to Testers Wanted where we recruit readers like you for objective feedback on products that roll into HQ throughout the year!

You can say a lot of things about L.A.B. Golf Putters but you can’t say they’re boring. Or conventional. Or even unoriginal. Even the owner calls them “absurd.”

Leveraging an approach called “lie angle balancing” (hence L.A.B. Golf), the brand feels it has a technology to help you make more putts.

That said, we need testers like you to assess and report back to us at MyGolfSpy!

Australian Open In World First: Joint Men's and Women's National Championships

Pits which day after day in practice rounds are passed unnoticed, suddenly assume terrible aspects on tournament days, but generally it is the fear of the hazards which in reality is more terrifying than the hazards themselves. A.W. TILLINGHAST

While we’ve had tournaments of a similar format, the Australian Open becomes the first to bring the men and women together for concurrent national golf championships December 1-4, 2022.

The DP World Tour will co-sanction the men’s event.

Even better, they have lined up the magnificent Victoria Golf Club for the finale, with the incredible Kingston Heath hosting early action.

Brooks Has Lost The Bros: Barstool Head Unleashes On Koepka

So many sad stories in the news these days and I hate sharing another.

Seems Brooks Koepka reneged on his charity-raising match with Barstool Sports founder and dream influencer of select governing bodies, Dave Portnoy.

Pausing here to let you take it all in.

At least we know this break up is a clean one. No grey area for this brospat! Essentially, Koepka backed out of their “charity” match due to a wrist injury but played Bryson DeChambeau for The Match.

From Bunkered, with Portnoy explaining how this match made in douchedom fell apart:

BEST GOLF TRAVEL BAG 2022

2022 Golf Travel Bag Buyer’s Guide

With the summer approaching, golf travel vibes are taking flight. But what are you doing to protect your golf clubs?

All golf travel bags are not created equal.  After testing nearly all travel bags the market has to offer, we can prove there are huge differences between most of them.

A couple of tips:

The more wheels, the better. More wheels allow you to push or pull your golf travel bag with ease.

Some bags have extra legs and wheels that extend allowing you to pull or push your clubs with one finger. It’s just that easy.

LIV Golf Rolls Out Tickets Sales And A Slogan To Make Live Under Par Almost Sound OK

The true hazard should draw the player towards it, should invite the golfer to come as near as he dare to the fire without burning his fingers. JOHN LOW

/ Geoff Shackelford

Hey parents, have fun explaining that one!

Daddy, why do they say Shot Just Got Real?

Well, Tilly, it’s a play off of…oh forget it.

But more importantly, you can now reserve Grounds passes in the $70-85 range for all but the LIV Golf series tournaments except the finale at Trump Doral. And I know, this sounds pricey for one day of golf where it’s a 4-hour shotgun start. But it’s a small price to pay when you get to see the likes of Garrigus!

Take the Yips Out of YOUR Putting

Every golfer has the strength to putt and sink putts. The best putters read the break and match the right swing weight directly up their target line to sink every putt. Easier said than done. Even Cameron Smith can’t sink every putt but he does give himself an excellent chance by setting up correctly and swinging with the right swing to start his ball rolling OVER and DIRECTLY UP HIS TARGET LINE. So why do YIPS creep into YOUR putting stroke?

I recently read the benefits of the EyeLine Putting Alignment Mirror. Unfortunately, it can’t tell you the 3 most critical features to make putts: (1) How to read the break: (2) The amount of swing required to reach the hole and (3) How to avoid the YIPS. You need to start by practicing on a variety of greens with different roll speeds to build confidence. Great putters learn to feel the right swing speed to manage the break and power the putt with a confident swing into the hole. To do this you need to swing with your shoulders AND avoid the YIPS.

A Putting Mirror is an aid to help you setup:
1/ Square up your feet and your shoulders with your target line.
2/ Your eyes should lineup directly over the target line or slightly inside of that line.
3/ Your head should not sway with your putter backswing or follow-through.

What You Can’t Learn from a Putting Mirror:
A/ Learn to swing by rocking your shoulders TO AVOID THE YIPS (using the LARGE MUSCLES IN YOUR SHOULDERS and not the small muscles in your wrists).
B/ Your putter must swing directly back (like a pendulum) and directly up your target line BY ONLY ROCKING YOUR SHOULDERS.
C/ Make a long enough putting practice swing WITH YOUR SHOULDERS to feel the power required to reach and pass the hole by 12 to 18 inches (to avoid a deflection from green imperfections as your putt slows down near the hole).

Tiger locks his leading wrist and rocks his shoulders to swing like a pendulum and avoid the YIPS.

Avoid the YIPS and shaking hands by locking your leading wrist flat and lining-up your leading forearm with the shaft of your putter. Only use your shoulders to swing your putter like a pendulum up your target line. GOLFSTR+ helps you practice by locking your leading wrist to eliminate the YIPS. Buy one today at www.GOLFSTR.com

Lawrenson: LIV Event At St Albans Will Test European Tour's Ryder Cup Captaincy Threat

Immediately when we attempt to standardize sizes, shapes, and distances we lose more than half the pleasure of the game. H.S. COLT

/ Geoff Shackelford

The Daily Mail’s Derek Lawrenson considers news of Phil Mickelson possibly returning and going for the Saudi money he knows is controlled by a murderer.

And in doing so Lawrenson notes two key points worth keeping an eye on:

The interesting thing will be if the DP World Tour follow through with their threat to prevent anyone who signs up for a Saudi event from becoming a Ryder Cup captain in the future.

It looks as if Westwood, Poulter and Garcia — three shoo-ins for the job under normal circumstances — are ready to call their bluff and see who blinks first. It would certainly damage the credibility of the Ryder Cup if all three were overlooked for the post.

Ratings: Spieth Delivers For CBS; Zurich And Valero Have Rough Years

Paulsen at Sports Media Watch with the good news for CBS’s 2022 RBC Heritage won by Jordan Spieth and viewed by the largest non-Masters audience of 2022.

Final round coverage of the PGA Tour Heritage tournament averaged a 1.9 rating and 3.68 million viewers on CBS Sunday, marking the largest audience for the event since 2003. Jordan Spieth’s win, which peaked with 5.04 million viewers, increased 20% in ratings and 43% in viewership from last year. The previous 19-year mark was 3.46 million for Spieth’s previous win in 2015.

Also noted by Paulsen and this should not be underestimated: “The 19-year high for the Heritage came on the same Easter Sunday in which the NBA scored its largest opening round playoff audience in 20 years.”

CBS had the other highest-rated non-major of the year with the WM Open in February.

Jon Rahm: "A lot of people don’t know, a lot of what we have and what we are competing for right now is because of [Phil].

Immediately when we attempt to standardize sizes, shapes, and distances we lose more than half the pleasure of the game. H.S. COLT

Here’s guessing the World No. 2 has not heard of Walter Hagen…or like 40 others.

Rahm, speaking to Golf Channel’s Todd Lewis ahead of this week’s Mexico Open, believed what Mickelson said and did shouldn’t damage his legacy.

“That guy has given his life to golf,” Rahm said about Mickelson. “A lot of what we have, a lot of people don’t know, a lot of what we have and what we are competing for right now is because of [Phil]. A lot of people focus on Tiger but he is easily one of the top 10 best players of all time. He is a Hall of Fame and we should recognise him as that. He has given his life to the public, no one has signed more autographs, no one has done more for the fans.”
