Golf fans look forward to The Players Championship for a variety of reasons.
Unlike most golf fans, however, I could not care less about the results or the actual golf being played. Give me the limited-edition gear!
And no limited gear for The Players Championship gets me going quite like the annual FootJoy x Buscemi Collection. If there ever was a golf shoe too good to see the grass, it would be this.
Introducing 2024’s rendition of FootJoy for Jon Buscemi. This luxury collection of golf shoes invokes a winning spirit and championship mentality. Headlined by the Premiere Series Field LX and Premiere Series Wilcox, FootJoy for Jon Buscemi is crafted with the highest-quality materials for a premium aesthetic fit for a champion.
“This collection embodies a luxurious approach to a franchise that is inspired by decades of heritage silhouettes, supercharged for today’s modern golfer,” said Chris Tobias, Vice-President, FJ Footwear. “We’re thrilled to continue this partnership with Jon and bring a collection to golfers who have an appreciation for high sense of style in the game of golf.”
Editor’s Note: Season Two of Full Swing was released on Netflix today, March 6. MGS had early access to the show and will be publishing commentary on the series throughout the week. This article includes spoilers.
A year after making its debut, Netflix’s “Full Swing” series is back.
Similar to Season One, this latest season is eight episodes long and chronicles all the drama within professional golf throughout 2023—and there was no shortage of that, right?
“Full Swing” Season One was watched for more than 53 million hours over its first five months, making it the 267th most-watched Netflix show in the February-June time period.
While it was a far cry from Season Five of the Formula 1 series “Drive to Survive” (90.5 million hours) that served as a model for a golf version of the show, the audience was much larger than the similar “Break Even” tennis series (30.5 million hours) released around the same time in 2023.
Looking for affordable golf clubs to improve your game? Check out these tips for where to buy cheap, high-quality used golf clubs.
In this age of $600 drivers, $350 fairway woods, $400 (and up) putters and the price of everything else golf going through the roof, now is a perfect time to find some alternatives to buying new. If you’re at all like me, the sheer sticker shock can be daunting, often sending you scurrying to the dark recesses of the internet or, God forbid, the even darker recesses of someone’s garage sale to find a hidden gem.
Before you start scouring your neighborhood for garage sale deals, let’s discuss some better options for those of us on a budget.
Benefits Of Buying Used Golf Clubs
Before you start your search for the where and how of used clubs, let’s take a look at the why. There are so many reasons to buy used: huge selection, prices that are significantly discounted and my No. 1 reason—technology doesn’t usually change THAT much year over year. That means you can typically find last year’s clubs for a steep discount and still take advantage of incredible tech.
Even better, if you know the right places to look, and if you know the specs of the clubs you need (see below for more on this), you can walk away with an incredible deal and still have money left over for a few rounds of golf (or a few rounds AFTER golf).
Can you feel it? Can you see it? Everyone’s favorite April tournament is fast approaching.
For most of us who won’t make it to Augusta National this year we’re left to rely on Masters-themed merchandise to fill the void.
Thankfully, there is plenty of splurge-worthy gear to get you in a Georgia state of mind.
Case in point, the new Azalea Collection from Waggle. As the nomenclature (or should I say, “gnomenclature”) suggests, this limited drop from Waggle hits on the typical Masters color scheme with a few extra goodies to boot.
In many ways, golf can be viewed as a game that simply exists to be beaten. We’re always trying to lower our handicap, always looking for a better way to practice, for the right club, for an extra 10 yards off the tee, for better touch around the greens—it goes on and on. This pursuit of unattainable perfection drives us to the point of obsession. Who among us hasn’t been on a conference call, doing important business, while our hands are wrapped around an imaginary golf club, focusing on the more important business of dialing in our move?
We’re all students of the game, obsessed with shaving strokes however we can. But we’re also students of life. In this way, golf mimics life—obsession only gets you so far. Life needs passion, joy, relaxation and, maybe more than anything, fun. So does golf.
The stresses of life took Students Golf founder and streetwear multi-hyphenate Michael Huynh to the brink. After years of helping artists like A$AP Rocky and Kanye West make their art a reality through his brand Publish, he found himself with a level of hypertension that no person in their mid-20s should be experiencing. Reaching what his doctors told him was a point of no return, he knew he had to make a change.
“I stepped away from the public, all my endeavors, and kind of went on this whole journey where I needed to kind of give myself a break and learn how to take care of myself again. And through that, I discovered golf.”
He was instantly hooked but, like many of us, was quite poor for those first few rounds (skill-wise and money-wise, am I right?). Remember that obsession I was talking about? Yeah, Michael found it, too. He joined country clubs and picked up weekly games. He became firmly entrenched within the SoCal golf scene. But he was still himself. He was still a fashion guy. He still loved streetwear. After leaving multiple clubs for what we’ll call a disagreement on what a golfer should wear, he decided to use his fashion chops to make a golf brand of his own. This became Students.
LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman says the league has pulled its application for recognition by the Official World Golf Ranking and will focus instead on working with the governing bodies of the four major championships to get more of its players in the fields.
It can be easy to get lost in the slew of releases that happen in January and February. Austin Eckroat (PGA Tour) and Joaquin Niemann (LIV) both cruised to titles on their respective tours.
Eckroat won the Cognizant Classic in the Palm Beaches for his first Tour victory. The win had been coming for some time as Eckroat, making his 50th career start, played well last season as a rookie.
The former Oklahoma State Cowboy carded all four rounds in the 60s at PGA National. His 17-under total beat Erik van Rooyen and Min Woo Lee by three strokes.
He won the tournament on the strength of some splendid iron play, ranking third in strokes gained approach for the week.

Par-3s may be the shortest holes in golf but they distill the game down to its purest point-and-shoot pin-seeking essence. Players simply choose their angle of attack, plant their tee in the ground, lock in on the target and fire away. Land on the green and a birdie opportunity knocks. Off target but still in the vicinity—par is still doable.
Part of what makes these holes such a blast is the green is reachable in one shot, meaning every time a player steps foot on the tee, there’s a legit chance at golf’s lotto ticket jackpot—a hole-in-one.
Yet, until recently, par-3 courses lacked a unifying voice. Ronan Galvin, CEO of swaggy bag maker Sunday Golf, has filled that void by establishing the Par 3 Golf Association (P3GA).
“I’m more passionate about par-3 golf than I am about full-length golf courses,” he says. “Sometimes it’s viewed as the adopted stepchild of the golf industry and people overlook it. I like to say it’s half the cost, half the time, twice the fun.”
Galvin is a natural advocate for the cause. His company was the first to market a golf bag specifically tailored to par-3 courses. The Loma, the lightweight six-club carry bag that put Sunday Golf on the map, is named after an executive course in San Diego where Sam Snead once served as head pro back when ‘The Slammer’ was serving in the Navy.
In the following video Andrew shares information on the most common fault he sees with the everyday golfer - an open or weak club face and the effect this one element can have on ball flight and striking.
I have no doubt that the club face angle, in particular in the early downswing, is an integral element to playing good golf. All golfers need to get the face in place in the downswing in order to be able to make a quality strike and manage the face angle for accurate outcomes.
When the club face is overly weak/open:
The weight will typically stay back as the pivot stalls
The handle will be too far back at impact, resulting in high and weak shots
